I just wanted to double-check that we're not meant to attempt a Brittish accent (mine is affront to all Brits, as I was reminded for the 4 years I worked for a Brittish company).

Also, wanted to check how we're pronouncing "Athelney" Jones. I want to be consistent with other pronunciations.

No, you do not need to attempt a British accent. Just tell the story in your own natural way; our listeners won't mind a bit and neither do we.
As for Athelney, you can take the time to find how the original soloist pronounced it by listening to his finished chapters, find a pronunciation on the internet or just do it your way. I recommend the first method but the second method is much faster. Whatever you choose it will be fine.

(Side note: I attended a well known British play recently at our local community theatre and their attempt to sound "English" ruined the whole thing. Could not understand half of the dialog. They were excellent actors but making them use 'accents' ruined it for me. tsk. )

EDIT: I did a quick search for "How to pronounce Athelney" and quickly found you tube videos pronuncing it consistently.

Last annoying question (hopefully)

When I went back to listen to the pronunciation of "Athelney," I noticed that the original soloist recorded the start of chapters as:

Chapter XXX of the Sign of the Four by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
This Librivox recording is in the public domain

Are we meant to record that abreviated version, or the whole one of:
Chapter # of The Sign of the Four . This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information or to volunteer, please visit librivox.org." [Optional: "Read by your name."] "The Sign of the Four by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Chapter Title."

I always seem to get this one wrong, so I thought I'd double-check.
