The Houses of Lancaster and York with the Conquest and Loss of France, by James Gairdner (1828 - 1912)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/houses-of-lancaster-and-york-james-gairdner/
The Wars of the Roses took place during the last phase of the Hundred Years' War. In 1377 the great warrior king, Edward III, died leaving his kingdom to his young grandson, Richard II. Richard's incompetence and tyranny precipitated his deposition by the Lancastrians. Henry V achieved glory at the Battle of Agincourt, only to die young, leaving a child king to succeed him. Like his grandfather, the mad King Charles VI, Henry VI suffered a mental collapse and in the ensuing crisis, the long internecine slaughter of the Wars of the Roses began. IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I'm looking for a standard, quick-listen DPL. The book is 225 pages long and the sections will be short.

My best,
