Parts 10 & 11 ready for PL! The recording quality on 10 is not too great, but hopefully acceptable. I don't remember the recording, but it sounds like I wasn't feeling 100% that day.

I'll be able to do corrections to the earlier chapters tomorrow.

Parts 4, 5, 7 & 9 are all corrected and ready for spot PL (Part 4 was PL OK, but I've corrected 'thirty' to 'thirty-three')
For Tokay, I'm going to disagree with the dictionaries if that is allowed. They do seem to agree on the Lexico pronunciation, but I'm pretty sure mine is also a correct pronunciation and the Wine & Spirit Education Trust agrees

Tokai, which is one of the names we are blamed for assuming, is the abbreviation adopted in Australia to designate the Furmint-Tokai, the grape from which the celebrated Tokai wine is made.

Hi Anne and Erin,
As we are almost finished up here, I have set up The Later Life on the launchpad - viewtopic.php?f=28&t=93030 - if you'd like to join me.

4, 5, 7, 9 are spot PL OK.
I have marked 6 PL OK. It was still showing in red in the MW, but in both my project notes and the thread I had that you'd done the (optional) pronunciation change. If you know something different about why it still showed 'PL notes', please say so!

Part 10 is PL OK.
With Tokay, I found a different anglicised pronunciation, though I'm not at all surprised there's more than one. And the Hungarian one I found was streets away from anything else again. Talk about a lot of thought dedicated to a word neither of us is likely to use anytime soon!
The free life of the day entry from the DNB is Enriqueta Rylands and is in effect about the John Rylands Library. The daily lives stay up for about a week, if you want to have a look:

One note for you for section 11:
15.27-15.31, table p 255
Mean Population 783, 274 [heard 780,274]
https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=uc1.31175035187866&view=1up&seq=277&skin=2021
I don't doubt his sincerity, but some of his positions haven't really been thought through. Still, it makes a very interesting glimpse into a vanished way of life!

Chapter 11 corrected and ready for spot PL! That was the second time I left out a 'three' on this project, which was convenient because I knew where I could find the replacement
The Enriqueta Rylands bio was fascinating. What an interesting life she had and what an interesting story behind the library!
In case you are interested here is de Castella's ADNB bigraphy, which gives a slightly different picture of him than the one he painted of himself.

Interesting extract - I'm waiting to listen to the book. The Yarra forms a boundary to the suburb where I live and Ivanhoe, where he died, is on the other side. My husband loved visiting wineries so we've visited most of the older ones.

Found a photo of an 1890 harvest with his "station" in the background - I'm trying to see how I can make a cover from it but even if I can't, thought you might be interested. I don't think I have any Yarra Valley wine in the cellar - I never managed to drive anywhere with my late husband without him buying wine and I only drink it when I have visitors . Yarra Valley has become very "in" - weddings and conferences and fancy food - it was more fun driving down dirt tracks and tasting in the tractor sheds.

That would be a great photo for the cover if you can make it work. If not, I forgot to mention that there are two line drawings by the author in the book - on p. 71, and p. 142 - that might be usable.
