An Sgéaluidhe Gaedhealach, by Dubhglas Dehide (1860 - 1949)
This book is a collection of folklore tales collected by Dubhglas de hIde in the Connacht region of Ireland in the 1880s and 1890s. (Summary by Brian O Broin)
Source text (please read only from this text!): https://archive.org/details/ansgealuidhegae00hydegoog/

Target completion date: 2023-01-30

Prooflistening level: Standard
Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Are you the reader about whom the admins were talking, that this is actually Irish Gaelic rather than Irish? If so, I'll enter that as a new language in our pick list. :)

Hi, Tricia.

I have no idea if the admins were talking about me or not . . . :D

Irish is the general designation for the language in Ireland and Europe ("Do you speak Irish?" "She speaks Irish fluently." etc.). Americans often call it Irish Gaelic, but Irish speakers really don't like that. They feel that it belittles the language. It'd be a bit like calling Dutch "Netherlands German".

That said, if you, or other admins, would prefer to designate it "Irish Gaelic", feel free. I won't take any offence.

I do see we already have Irish listed, so that's what it'll be (and stay). 8-) Thanks for the clarification! I thought Irish and Irish Gaelic were two different languages when I asked.

Your short work is supposed to be PL'd today. Hopefully it'll be soon. In the meantime, I've set this up for you.

The intro/outro wording is in English, but feel free to do it in Irish. :)

As you're the soloist, you're in charge of updating the Magic Window.

Detailed Instructions for accessing the Magic Window can be found in the document linked here: Instructions for Soloists

Video showing how to use the Magic Window (read the above document first - it has the information on how to log in for the first time, which this does not have):

I've entered the first two chapters for you as an example. You can fill in the rest.

When you upload a chapter, put the file duration (mm:ss) in the Notes field and the uploaded URL into the Listen URL field, and mark it from Assigned to Ready for PL.

If I’m guess-translating the author name correctly it would be Douglas De Hyde or Hyde/Hide, and I was wondering is this the same man who was a President of Ireland?

Yes, Colleen. The very same fellow. Hyde/de hÍde was a prolific scholar and activist, moving in many different circles throughout his life.

I entered you in, Sonia.

And Brian - I hadn't entered you in as the BC, meaning that I hadn't given you MW access! I hope you haven't struggled to get into the Magic Window. It was my fault if you couldn't.

You're in now.

Well - first item in the bag! Just the introduction - see the Magic Window.
Let me know your opinion, TriciaG (or is Sonia my PL?).
I won't proceed until I've heard something back.
