Hi everyone,

please let me introduce again. I'm Jan from germany and a part time voice actor.
I already did some recordings for Librivox, but that's many years ago. Now i'm back and it would be great if i could do some more recordings or support this great project in other ways.
My languages are german and english.

Meanwhile i have completely new recording equipment:
- Microphones:
-- Oktava MK101
-- MXL R441 modified with Lundahl LL2915 transformer, Thomann Fetamp preamp
-- MXL990 modifid new tube-based internal pre-amp

- Pre-Amp: SPL Goldmike 9844
- Compressor: DBX 266 XS
- Audiointerface: M-Audio Air 192|8
- well damped and isolated DIY recording booth

Wow, you have a tube based pre-amp? that is impressive. It has real tubes in it? Gee. All in all your set up is excellent. Remember to do a new 1 minute test to be sure your tech specs are good to go and welcome back!!!

Hi pilchenvert,

Yes, it has some tubes in it. Indeed it's a hybrid-amp, the input stages are full semi-conductor based. I bought it one year ago because i had to do some recordings with proper quality but hadn't finished my DIY full tube amp at that time and my old DIY preamp wasn't good enough. I would not suggest to buy this Goldmike 9844 because it is a cheaper version of another device - i think the MK2 - they developed for a german dealer called Thomann. This amp has some hum issues, i think they kept the production costs as low as possible. The nice thing is that it has an enhancer which may make some recordings sound nicer or richer. Anyway, in my oppinion this device is not worth approx. 500€ / 570$.
Well, meanwhile the circuitry of my DIY tube amp is finished, currently i'm working on the housing and power supply, then i will sell the Goldmike.
remember to do a new 1 minute test to be sure your tech specs are good to go
Oh, thanks for the hint, i'll do so as soon as i got rid of this damn flu ;)
welcome back!!
Thanks a lot.

Best regards
Jan
