Greetings -

The poet continues to amaze me with short but very descriptive phrases.

Sections 47-56 have just two things that need attention:

Section 55:

TIME: 00:42 TEXT: "Slid slowly, silently, the wraith-like mist," Reading has "wraith" pronounced as "wrath".

Section 56:

About two seconds into the silent period at the end of the poem is a clearly audible noise in the background.

Greetings ;

Notes on Sections 57-75:

Section 57:

The last verse was left out of the reading.

"O were I hovering, a bee, to probe
Deep down within your scented heart, fair flower,

Enfolded by your soft vermilion robe,

Amorous of sweets, for but one perfect hourl

Section 73:

This one comes in with an audio level of 92.6 dB which is just above our upper limit.

Section 75:

TIME: 02:10 Reading is missing "End of Section 75" before "End of Harlem Shadows by Claude McKay"

What a great book of poetry with so many different emotions and passions. And made even better by a very good reading. Nicely done.

What next for you?

Thanks for listening to my reading of "Harlem Shadows" This was a big undertaking for me since it was my second solo project! I did enjoy reading McKay's poems. I made the corrections as you stated in your PL Notes.

Section 55: https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/harlemshadows_55_mckay_128kb.mp3 Duration 1.27
Section 56:https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/harlemshadows_56_mckay_128kb.mp3 (end noise cut out)
Section 57: https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/harlemshadows_57_mckay_128kb.mp3 Duration 1.51
Section 73: https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/harlemshadows_73_mckay_128kb.mp3 Duration 1.16 Volume 89
Section 75:https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/harlemshadows_75_mckay_128kb.mp3 Duration 2.21

Please let me know if there is still something wrong with Section 41.

Next project will be reading a book as a solo project.

Hi,
If you want to add to the summary, you can just write it in here and I'll update it for the catalog.
Have a good night!

Hi Amy:
Here is my revised summary:
An award winning Jamaican poet who writes passionately about his birth home and his adopted home, USA. Claude McKay vividly describes family life, love, hate, work, and social life. The reader obtains a strong sense of black life through his colorful and emotional poetry.

I made the corrections to all the poems as stated in PL notes. Do I need to do anything else?
Thanks for all your help!

Hi,
If they are PL OK, you should be all set. I will update the summary and catalog it tonight.
Thanks!

Greetings -

I have changed the MW to show Section 41 as PL OK.

I checked all the other corrections using the URLs shown in the forum post and they are ready to go as well. Didn't check to see if they had been uploaded to the MW.

So, all the sections of this most enjoyable book are ready for Amy's magic touch.

I think all of us that DPL come across books that we look forward to them being done. And, then, there are those wonderful books, like Harlem Shadows that come to the last chapter way too soon. Thanks for letting me be a part of this project and for giving me a chance to experience all the emotions of McKay's poems.

If I can be of assistance with your next project, Denise, let me know.
