The Lilt of Life by Zora Cross (1890 - 1964).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-lilt-of-life-by-zora-cross/
Published in 1918, Zora Cross’s book of poems, The Lilt of Life, was her third book of verse, and, like her earlier works, largely focused on her experiences of love, erotic entanglements (notably from a woman’s point of view), and motherhood. Many of the poems are written as an homage to her then-husband, David McKee Wright, whom she met while writing for The Bulletin, where Wright was her editor, causing a significant scandal in Sydney literary circles. 1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/liltoflife00cros
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

This is set up.

I cannot access the text. (HathiTrust often locks us non-Americans out of texts, and even texts PD in Canada which is Life+50 are often locked out for us because they're not PD in Life+70 countries. We are guilty by association.)

All that to say, I can still MC it, but can't view the text. So would the regular poetry disclaimer be better than the full-on book disclaimer? Something like,
Say: TITLE by AUTHOR, read for LibriVox.org [by your name]. [Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.]
---
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.
Or modified to something like
Poem [number] of The Lilt of Life, by Zora Cross, read for LibriVox.org [by your name].
--
End of poem [number]. This recording is in the public domain.
or
Poem [number] of The Lilt of Life, by Zora Cross. This LibriVox recording is in the public domain..
--
End of poem [number].
I think I prefer option 3, unless you want to say your name on every recording.

Elise has altered the source material to archive.org, so hopefully you can determine its PD-ness, Tricia.

I think we'll go with the short version, as we did on Songs of Love and Life, except for Man and Woman, its over an hour long so that's getting the full, librivox disclaimer. As for the name, its about two seconds recording time, I think we'll keep it in.

Oh, I was sure before that it was PD. :) But it is probably better to use the Archive link, since other non-Americans may want to reference the text.

Moving this to Readers Found!

OK. Tricia, before Elise PL's section 2. It is 68 minutes long. Now this will fit on a standard cd by twelve minutes, so are we good to go?

Still alive, but work has taken over my existence again, so just behind. Have a long weekend, so trying to wrap up in the next couple of days. Yep, it's all me, not Cav. :D

Thanks for checking in!

OK. This should be the last one. I got it just at seventy minutes. Elise, I hope you can PL this over the weekend, so we can put this one to bed.

Oh! This one is ready for cataloging? I noticed because it's on the status table as being 100% complete. :) I'll start working on it...
