philchenevert wrote: March 4th, 2024, 8:01 am There could be one today. Monday March 4th since it is the first monday of the month. But none has been announced that I know of. I am all in favor of random zoom meetings that someone just decides to do then 'announces' in the Announcement thread along with the link. I was thinking of doing one myself.
Hi Phil
I know that Mondays are not always the best day for everyone. I am happy to set one up but I don't have access to a full Zoom account. The maximum time for me to set on a Zoom is 40 minutes. It is possible to use the 40 minutes stop the meeting and then all to sign back in for another 40 minutes but don't know if people would want to do this.

Oops, so sorry. Yes I'd be happy to attend yours or anyone's zoom meetings with enough advance warning. And I also favor random announcements. You never know who might show up.

Great I will set one up and we can see what happens. I don't want to tread on toes as I know you have set them up in the past but I noticed your post about moving house and being busy. If you are happy for me to do so I will set one up for next week and see what response we get.

I'd love to attend, but I can't do Mondays any more, as I've got an ongoing volunteer gig from 9-1 Pacific time every Monday. So if it's scheduled for any day but Monday, you can count me in!

Thanks,
Winnifred

I'm interested in helping out in this area, but things are still too unsettled on this end. I certainly think there are ways we can utilize Zoom sessions to enhance our LV experience.

That would be lovely Larry but only as and when you can. I feel even a 40 minute meeting would be great and if people wanted to we could do them more often and at different days and times so everyone gets an opportunity to join us.
I was thinking of the first one being on Friday 15th March. In the UK the time would be 5pm so for USA it would be 11am.

Hi Michele,

I'll be there! It's now in my calendar so I can't book anything else for that time.

Cheers,
Winnifred

I've been spending a lot of time lately helping newbies get used to how things work. I believe the Zoom meetings began as a way to impart information to newcomers (that was why I first attended one). Trouble is, not enough of them knew about it or showed up, so discussion moved on to other topics.

Having just spent two hours putting together a bunch of screenshots for someone that would have taken 10 minutes to demonstrate on a Zoom call, I have to wonder whether there isn't some way to reach newcomers more efficiently. Just a thought for possible discussion.

Cheers,
Winnifred

Yes I absolutely agree. That's why I thought our first meeting could be about what we feel would be good to demonstrate and we can make newbies aware that they can also suggest topics that we can cover for them.

Hi everyone,
The meeting below is open to everyone. The idea behind them will be to share tips and information about how to do things on Librivox and Audacity. Newbies are very welcome. Please let me know suggestions about what you would like covered during the meetings. I can then put together a plan of action.
I'm hosting the next Zoom meet upFriday March 15th . For the first one the idea is to meet and decide what we would like from these meetings. :D

I only have a basic Zoom account so we have 40 minutes then we can either end the meeting or if we all log out and log in again we can have another 40 minutes. This is a real trial and error to see how it goes. Please let me know if you will be joining us so I can see how much interest there is.

Michele Eaton is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

I've put you on my calendar and will attend if I can. Thanks for keeping the ball rolling, Michele. I've been inundated with a major move to a new house 4 miles away, squeezing ourselves into 1900 square feet from 4000, "decrapping" as they say, and finding I treasure almost all of my crap, so it's hard to part with any of it. :(

If you have nothing in particular to present, I enjoy just hearing what people have been doing with themselves, on and off of LV.

NOTE TO PHIL:

Now that various people are announcing meetings, and people are responding, I suggest it is time to lock out the Announcements Thread as redundant, and direct everyone to post meeting announcements as well as discussion on this discussion thread. Maybe rename it the
ZOOM Announcement/Discussion Thread????? Only you can do this as you made the First Post on both threads and only you can change them.

Cool! Out-of-state "kids" may be out extreme-hiking that day, and that's typical nap time for grandson, so if those line up, I'll be there.

I wonder if posting the invite on the Welcome to Librivox thread might not entice some newcomers to attend?
