Believe it or not, I have had the remaining chapters (8-12) recorded for MONTHS now, and it just needs the editing to be done!

So now I have targeted completion of this project for May 31st. Of 2022.
... I mean, September 30th. Of 2022.

...I mean... sometime soon...

LOOK!! LOOK!!

Here is Part VIII!!

Duration 30:46

Stupid, stupid Paul.

A couple notes:

: At about 4:30, I say "He had known no such joy...."
The text says "He had known no so such joy...." -- which doesn't make sense.
I checked another reliable source, which matches what I say, so there it is. :D

: At about 10:56, I say "He had not been able to be either challenged...."
The text says "He had not been to be either challenged...." -- which doesn't make sense.
My reliable source matches what I say. So there it is as well. :D

And here is Part IX!

https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/beckoningfairone_09_onions_128kb.mp3

Duration 25:39

Silly Paul, thinking he can out-manoeuvre the BFO.

N.B.:
At about 4:17, I say "...since it is better that the truth be told...."
The text says "...since it is better that the truth should be told...."
This is a grievous error, discovered after the final edit.
But since it is minor (though grievous), & it doesn't change the meaning, & I'm zealous in my laziness, I left it as is.

Here is Part XI!

https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/beckoningfairone_11_onions_128kb.mp3

Duration 28:10

He's a goner.

One note:
At about 20:35, I say "...it began to puzzle him exceedingly that he should be so weak, that his room should...and that his hand...."
The text says "...it began to puzzle him exceedingly what he should be so weak, that his room should...and that his hand...."
The text is ungrammatical; it must be a typo. And saying "that" not only makes sense, but also makes it parallel construction.
And we must be parallel.

And there is a Giallo film from 1968 called A Quiet Place in the Country, with Franco Nero & Vanessa Redgrave.
I haven't watched that one yet.
I have a lot of watching to catch up on too.
Just FYI...

I watched A Quiet Place in the Country a few months ago.
And didn't like it.
It does present an interesting twist on the basic story, but it's just too 1960s-pretentious-performance-arty for me.

I would like to see a "faithful" film adaptation of the story... though it would be a challenge to translate, onto film,
the many facets of Paul's (maybe) nutty inner-landscape & the (maybe) supernatural aspects.

And...
I just now noticed that this is a followup to my earlier post from 2 years ago.
It will be nice to get this one wrapped up. Sooooo cloooooose....

Just came across this, a ~20-minute "modernized" film version: https://vimeo.com/646817115
It's OK, except it would be confusing if you don't already know the story.

...and also came across this! Apparently "The Beckoning Fair One" is an actual Welsh song from circa 1400: https://www.facebook.com/Shoshannaharpandvoice/videos/symlen-ben-bys-the-beckoning-fair-one/635862957204954/

...and at long last, here is Part XII!!

https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/beckoningfairone_12_onions_128kb.mp3

Duration 16:14

Goodbye, goodbye....

One note:
At about 4:25, I say "...she came into my shop..."
The text says "...she come into my shop..."
I noticed this in the final edit (old story).
But it doesn't change the meaning.
And besides, in the text, the same character later (~12:55) says "...she came into my shop..."
So I left it as is.
