I have done all of the edits successfully, with the exception of the noise at 3:06 that happens while I am speaking, making the exact time hard to identify and the noise hard to remove without effecting the speech. Do you have advice on what to do in this situation?silverquill wrote: ↑May 2nd, 2020, 10:45 amSure, glad to.owenthomas wrote: ↑May 2nd, 2020, 5:26 amHello! Thank you for the feedback. Can someone give me some advice on how to implement these revisions in audacity? Is it necessary to re-record the text with different settings?ADKreader1122 wrote: ↑April 28th, 2020, 12:36 pm Hello Owen and welcome to LibriVox--
Great to have your recording-thank you. I tested the volume of your file on MP3 Gain and Checker, and it registers at only 81.8 dB; the range is usually 87-91. Amplification will be needed and Larry or Tricia can help with instructions on how to adjust that. The reading was fine--Please shorten your ending silence by 2 seconds and check for the omission of background noise at 1:43, 3:07, 3:26, and a small pop at 8:30.
I'll check back in a bit for revisions--thanks again!
Lora
Under the Effect drop-down menu, select Amplify.
Our LV target for volume is 89 dB with a range of 86-91 dB, so I would set the amplification level for 7, which will bounce it up close to 89.
Then you can look for those noises identified and probably just clip them out. (Hint start at the back and work your way to the front so the time stamps stay the same.) Then be sure to adjust the ending silence, which should be close to 5 seconds. Just clip it accordingly.
Then, save the file under the same name and upload it again, post the link here with the new file length and you should be all set.
We use a little program called Checker to give a true volume, since that isn't offered in Audacity. You can find it here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Checker
Thanks for your contribution!
All the best.

Re-record as much as you need to, and patch it in. Try to match the volume, etc. as much as possible with the original.I have done all of the edits successfully, with the exception of the noise at 3:06 that happens while I am speaking, making the exact time hard to identify and the noise hard to remove without effecting the speech. Hi Larry,
Please check Section #49; at :57 there's part of the sentence missing: "I don't think it's the climate......."

At about 7 minutes, there is a family tree in the text. I tried my best to get it in there without taking too many liberties, I think it is okay, let me know if you want me to change it somehow.

Hello jasonb,
Thanks for your recording of Chapter 21. You did a fine job with the family tree; I don't think anything needs to be changed. The only note I have is for the introduction--after you say your name and location, please insert "On Everything" by Hilaire Belloc and then the chapter title will follow. I'll check back for that small correction.
Thanks again,
Lora
