The Home Life of Poe by Susan Archer Weiss (1822 - 1917).

The author of this biography of Poe, Susan Weiss, describes her work as follows: " I have not treated Poe in his character of poet or author, but confined myself to his private home-life, domestic and social, as I have heard it described by Poe's most intimate friends who knew him from infancy—some of them my own relatives—and from my own brief knowledge of him in the last three months of his life." ( Ciufi Galeazzi)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/33930
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I just added a ~ before the book title in the subject line of the first post. That let's everyone know we are looking for a dpl. We'll stay in the launch pad for a day or two or until a dpl comes along. You can start recording immediately if you wish.

Well, then, could you put me in mind for DPL?
I love your reading, and this is a fascinating book.

Okay, chapter one is in the MW :D . Most of the chapters in this book are pretty short.

Chapter 2 and 3 are up.
Big disclaimer for chapter 3 - it contains the terms "darkies" and "pickaninnies," and insulting and demeaning stereotypes ("this ignorant and superstitious race"). As far as I have preread (up to about chapter 25) this is not repeated in the book.
