State of the Union Addresses by United States Presidents (1889 - 1892).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/state-of-the-union-addresses-by-united-states-presidents-1889-1892-by-benjamin-harrison/

The State of the Union address is a speech presented by the President of the United States to a joint session of the United States Congress, typically delivered annually. The address not only reports on the condition of the nation but also allows the President to outline his legislative agenda (for which he needs the cooperation of Congress) and national priorities. This album contains recordings of addresses from Benjamin Harrison. (Wikipedia)
This is the 12th out of 27 projects. Prior addresses are found here: https://librivox.org/search?q=state%20of%20the%20union&search_form=advanced
Some stats are found here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=61256&hilit=state+of+the+union
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/5050
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: Special - Please follow text while PLing. I'm not looking for word perfect. The language is sometimes awkward and following the text will help identify errors which the ear alone may not find. Linny will act as DPL

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Section breakdown:
Note: If you are claiming all sections for an Address feel free to split the sections differently. Be sure to post your preferred start/stop for your DPL.

2. Benjamin Harrison, December 3, 1889, part 2 - 7411 words. Read from: The enactment of a national bankrupt law of a character to be a permanent part of our general legislation is desirable. It should be simple in its methods and inexpensive in its administration.

4. Benjamin Harrison, December 1, 1890, part 2 - 5189 words. Read from: The law relating to the civil service has, so far as I can learn, been executed by those having the power of appointment in the classified service with fidelity and impartiality, and the service has been increasingly satisfactory.

Maria,
I hate to be a pest but when you have a moment please move us to the regular readers wanted instead of short works. This is a tough project, especially for new readers and the sections are awfully long.
Thank you!

No problem. I remembered from a previous project that you wanted it in one or the other, but I couldn't remember which one it was!

 I can certainly understand that. I can't remember everything from one project to another and this is our 12th volume.

Thanks for the move. :D
