The Black Candle by Emily Murphy (1868 - 1933).
Emily Murphy wrote about the Vancouver, BC Downtown Eastside and its various residents. This is one of her quotes from the book - "It is hardly credible that the average Chinese peddler has any definite idea in his mind of bringing about the downfall of the white race, his swaying motive being probably that of greed, but in the hands of his superiors, he may become a powerful instrument to that end. ( Lynda Marie Neilson)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/TheBlackCandle
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

OK, your MW is ready for you! Let me know who your DPL will be as soon as that person is on board. Then we can move over to Going Solo.

Thanks very much Ann!

I have the MW set up and I have asked Helen to DPL. She will be letting me know :)

Just so you know, I have a solo to complete before this one - I am setting this one up as I am going to be away for 2.5 weeks on a cruise and I want to have something to record offline if need be. If not, I will start recording when I get home in October I hope!

No, but it is amazing how all this is going on now, here, with Opioids.

Over 100 years and still nothing can stem the tide of Opioids (should I say the Tsunami of Opioids?).
