Sorry again for the delay. :?

All tech settings are correct, volume is great, and there are no plosives! All is good.

I would suggest, just to make it a touch better, some light noise reduction to take care of the background white noise. Here are a couple resources:
text instructions: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Noisecleaning_With_Pics
video, but with an older version of Audacity so the settings are different: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFSg9o37HMw

My settings are as follows:
Noise reduction: 10-16 (I suggest about 12 for you)
Sensitivity: (default)
Frequency Smoothing: (default)

Try it and see if you notice a difference. Then post your results here... or if you're comfortable with all that, let me know and I'll mark this off as OK!

Thanks!! I tried the settings you suggested and somehow I made things worse instead of better (!). Do I understand correctly that it's fine as is, and fixing background noise would just be an improvement (but is not absolutely necessary in this case)? If my sample is acceptable as is, I will, I think, leave well enough alone!! Since, as I said, my efforts seemed to actually make it worse.

Please let me know if I can jump in and volunteer for a bit of reading, or whether I really do need to figure out the background noise filter thing! :)

Sincerely,
Elise

I just noticed you're in Toronto - I'm in Montreal. Small world! :)
