Shasta Of The Wolves by Olaf Baker (1870 - 1964).

She-wolf Nitka finds an abandoned Native American baby and raises him with her cubs. (more to come) ( Kirk Ziegler)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/files/59576/
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Kirk,

I can MC this for you.

MW is set up - it looks like you plan to read more than one chapter per MW section; if so, please modify the intro statement in the first post to make it easier on your DPL.

I am moving this over to "Going Solo" since Cheryl has volunteered to DPL.

Thanks David.

Most of the chapters are only a few 2 or 3 pages and the book is only 84 pages so I thought it better to combine them. Is it better to have each chapter recorded separately?

Kirk,

If they at short combining them is great, just start the intros with something like "Chapters 1 and 2 of Shasta Of The Wolves. This is a LibriVox recording. ..." or "Chapters 1 through 3 of Shasta Of The Wolves. This is a LibriVox recording. ..."

:D It's fun. I haven't done much in the way of kids books. I recorded a series of kids detective books who were all made up animals for a company about 5 years ago, that was fun too.

Uploaded Sections 4 & 5:

https://librivox.org/uploads/dlolso21/shastaofthewolves_04_baker_128kb.mp3 @ 18:23
https://librivox.org/uploads/dlolso21/shastaofthewolves_05_baker_128kb.mp3 @ 23:22

Had a hell of a time with Section 4. I recorded it yesterday and my recording software recorded it thru my computer mic so it sounded tinny. I recorded it again and it sounded ok but didn't have time to edit it. Today I recorded Section 5, then saved it as Section 4.......sometimes I'm such a dumbass it makes me wonder how I've been able to survive this long.
