Hi there!

Sounds like you've got some background/white noise there, which is probably the number 1 thing you'll want to address.

1) reduce any environmental noise when recording (especially things with fans or buzzers): fans, AC, neon bulbs, computers, clocks, etc. You can also pile pillows or mattresses around your recording area to absorb excess sounds and echoes.

2) after that use Audacity's noise removal tool.
-- Select a segment of your audio where it's just noise.
-- Click Effects > Noise Removal.
-- Click Get Noise Profile.
-- Select all of the audio (ctrl+A).
-- Click Effects > Noise Removal
-- Click OK.
-- Listen to check your audio sounds normal (if not, undo and repeat with adjusted settings).

Try that and see if it removes the humm in the background.
