Hi Sonia, thanks for the PL notes. I'm happy to PL your parts, but most likely won't have time to do so for another couple of days, so if someone else wants to do it in the mean time.. :)
Foon - Real life is getting in the way of LV, will be slow until all is back on track, please bear with me!

Readers needed:
Dramatic Reading: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Thanks Foon. I had some time just now and listened to Sonia's files, and to no one's surprise they're all PL OK! All of them very well-read. I didn't realize the Thomas Hood poems were that depressing. I'm wondering if they're not in the wrong section of the book LOL. Can't wait to hear more!

yes I think they are in the category of British humour that we others may not get ;) a sort of nasty laugh about other people's misfortunes. I also don't find that funny, but it seems some people do.

Thanks for the PL, Tomas !

and three more DR parts from me. Captain Reece was so funny. And I learnt a new pronunciation: coxswain /koksen/. Not really sure what his job is on board though  Maybe Craig can enlighten me there...

I believe that happens when we only ever see these words in print but never actually hear them spoken. And many people probably rarely have occasion to speak about such specific marine vocabulary, so that's why. I only checked it up because I remembered the special way that "boatswain" was pronounced /bozen/ in a previous poem. Also there I would have said "boat" and "swain" if I hadn't checked it. So I thought, here is another ship-swain, so maybe he is also pronounced differently  turns out I was right to check

Craig, are there any other swains that may show up and only be pronounced "sen" ?

I had a goat two solo poems now. Especially the Decalogue is really irreverently funny  we're definitely a far way away from "The Higher Life" here.

Kitty wrote: April 8th, 2019, 9:13 am excellent job, Foon  I especially loved the German mermaid. I knew you could do the accent (because you know Dutch) just as I try to do my worst with the German  It's actually not that easy doing a fake accent which we spent years getting rid of
I actually found it quite difficult to do! While German and Dutch accents are somewhat similar, they're also different enough that I couldn't fall back on "what I sounded like 15 years ago"
Could you make 2 small corrections to these two please:

for Orator Puff (19):

> at 0:22: "the one squeaking thus and the other down so" - it's "squeaking" not "speaking". Also maybe to bring in some fun, I think it would be cool if you could really squeak the word "thus" and say with a very sombre tone the word "so". As they say later, he varies from a high B down to a G. We should really play on this in this poem.

for Ritter Hugo (42):

> at 0:35: "So sang dis wasser maiden, Vot hadn't got nodings on." - oops this should be the narrator, can be cut out, sorry. I need to remember recording that part (I already recorded the narrator for this poem, only need time to edit it all

yes it's probably not exactly the same, but compared to English, the Dutch and German have similar sounds. Just like the Luxembourgish and German have.

I actually also found it quite hard to get back into that pronunciation :? but I think I managed quite well in the end. Yours sounds good in any case. I think for an English-speaking listener, we will sound quite genuine ;)

And Orator Puff's two voices are wonderfully done now  Thanks !

Both PL ok

wow, you were really busy, Foon 8-) great job on all of them, I found no error at all. All PL ok. I especially loved your vendor in the last one, excellent casual speech  This story is so impossible ! I plodded through it as the narrator, half the time missing the action

Thanks for these !

Both exactly 2:22 seconds. That took great skill.
Just a start, but great to be reading some poetry again.
