I would like to turn this into a librivox recording and i am not sure if it falls under public domain.
https://www.nps.gov/lacl/learn/historyculture/upload/More-One-Mans-Wilderness-Proenneke-508.pdf
It is owned and published by the National Park Service which is a government branch so is it excluded from copyright or not ?

Other links that aren't directly to a PDF download:

https://www.nps.gov/lacl/learn/historyculture/more-one-mans.htm
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17635.More_Readings_From_One_Man_s_Wilderness

I don't know. I lean towards no, because it's work by a governmental employee, but doesn't appear to have been written as a part of his job. It looks like his journal, which would not have been written as part of his job, but as a personal activity.

Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer, and we have none here that can officially give "legal advice".

I'm moving this from "Need Help?" to "Book Suggestions." :)

Thanks for your answer ! Its a journal that has been donated to the NPS so they own it. He never worked there. There are also other years that have been made into actual books that are for sale at publishers but this one is the only time span that is published by them directly. I will write them. Probably the easiest and safest way to find out.

No need to write them. I had a brain freeze earlier.

It's available at HathiTrust here: https://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/005238268?type%5B%5D=all&lookfor%5B%5D=more%20readings%20from&ft=ft

Since it's available Full View, that means that their lawyers have checked the copyright status, and consider it Public Domain. Therefore it's OK for us to use at LV.

(I will suggest you record something in a group project first, to get a feel for how LibriVox does things. And, of course, the 1-minute test to make sure your recording settings are correct.)

Since i would like to get this done before i leave on a trip for 6 months i wanted to ask if anybody else would be interested in reading this. Its around 30 hours (500 DIN A4 Pages) to read and i would probably be able to do half of that until April 1.
If you are interested please leave a comment with how much you would like to read and i can think about contacting a BC to help out.
Greetings Benni
