Hello Everyone,

Below is the link to my test clip. It was completed using Logic Pro 8 software on an analog Audio Technica AT2020 mic in a MAC system. I look forward to hearing your comments and getting started.

The link to the file is: https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_cwhat64071.mp3

Hi, Chris! Your test sounds really good! Volume is spot on.

You have some settings you'll need to change, though. I'm not at all familiar with your software, so I won't be able to walk you through it, but here's what we need:

Channel: Mono
Sample rate: 44100 Hz
Sample format: 16 bit

Export bitrate: 128 kbps

The two lines in red are the ones you'll need to correct. Everything else is great! After you make a new test with these settings, post the link here again for a final check. :)

Hello,

I am attempting to get my new test file uploaded. When I went back and changed the settings you requested, My program software changed the file to an MP4. Unfortunately your system does not allow me to upload and MP4. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi, Chris. Sorry I'm just now seeing this.

You did indeed fix the two issues above, but somehow in doing so, you increased your volume. Volume is now about 7 dB too high. You can download Checker for an easy way to check your own volume before uploading.

Almost there!

It's still too loud. :hmm: It actually seems to be the same as the previous attempt, 7 dB too high. I wonder if maybe the upload didn't quite complete? Or maybe you uploaded the previous version again by mistake? There are two things you can do here:
  1. Either decrease the volume of this test by 7 dB, or
  2. Decrease the recording level on your mic and re-record until you've found the right volume. Checker will be helpful to you here.
I recommend #2, because then you'll already have the right level for your subsequent recordings, instead of having to decrease volume for each recording in the future. But whichever approach you choose is fine with me.

I will subscribe to this thread so that I'll be sure to see your next attempt much more quickly this time.
