PL OK! For a moment it seemed as though all the fighting might have been in a better cause - against the grandson of Genghis Khan. But no. However, it looks as though we are going to meet the first of the Hapsburgs soon. Can't wait to hear what happens next.

PL OK. I just checked the population of Europe in the mid 13th century - about 73 million. So I guess large enough to ensure a fresh supply of young knights. Wasn't it also a century for the building of great cathedrals and the foundation of famous universities? So not all ravaging and being ravaged.
