A three-volume history of Ireland during the Tudor era, based largely on state papers. Richard Bagwell (1840-1918) was not a historian by profession (he was a lawyer) but both this history and his 3 volume history of Ireland in the Cromwell/Stuart era were well received, and he was awarded honorary doctorates by Dublin University and Oxford.
