The Dogs Of Boytown by Walter Alden Dyer (1878 - 1943).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-dogs-of-boytown-by-walter-alden-dyer/

This collection of stories about dogs and the people they own was published in 1918. The story proceeds leisurely with much information about different breeds of dogs. The author obviously likes both boys and dogs. ( David Wales)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/41444
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Dave, what do you think? From 7.52 to 15.37 the author goes into a long list of dog breeds and characteristics. The list doesn't do anything to advance the story and I found it a little tiresome. I thought maybe to excise it from the recording. What do you think? (He does the same thing in the next chapter, too.)

5 PL OK.

If it were something like a footnote LV would consider reading it as "at the reader's discretion" but since it is in the body of the text I'm afraid it falls under the "read it as written" rule.
