I'm trying to copy it for volume 2 - or at least come close. I've never had success with those online "Match your font" tools.

I have a free font called "Castellar" that looks quite similar. Maybe that's the one?

Definitely similar. Looking at the cover more, I think the rest of the text is in the same font. Castellar is only upper case, correct? (But it'll do, and I can fudge the rest if I can't find one with lower case letters.)

No, Castellar is upper and lower case afaik. But probably best to tap the original cover maker for info.

Hi everyone!

I have a question regarding modern pictures used for LV covers and I hope this is the right thread for it.

The following Wiki page section lists Pixabay.com as a good source: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/CD_Covers#PD_Picture_Sources
And the site offers great material! But they say it is under the "Pixabay License" (the wiki page says CC0 - has it changed?), which has some minor conditions which apply. It says:

The Pixabay License does not allow:

• Sale or distribution of Content as digital Content or as digital wallpapers (such as on stock media websites);
• Sale or distribution of Content e.g. as a posters, digital prints, music files or physical products, without adding any additional elements or otherwise adding value
• Depiction of identifiable persons in an offensive, pornographic, obscene, immoral, defamatory or libelous way; or
• Any suggestion that there is an endorsement of products and services by depicted persons, brands, vocalists and organisations, unless permission was granted.

So is this enough to make the site unusable for a PD creation? It's really the first two items that I'm unsure about.

Yes, it's OK. We modify them (add the project title, etc.) and aren't distributing the actual, unmodified image.

If you use Pixabay please be careful not to use anything that has an identifiable person or a trademarked object, the person who adds the photo can not give away the rights of anything they photograph even if they say they can. And there are so many images available to use or of course you can make your own.

Another question... If the picture you use is out of the book and there is no illustrator listed, who/what do you put in for picture credit?

"cover designed by... with an image from the book" - assuming it's the same book you read the text from.
