Did you know 'archive.org' is unavailable in Russia?

Well, I don't know whether it's true for the whole of that rather vast country... I just returned from a visit to Moscow, and found that 'www.archive.org' is actively blocked by the government (according to some source I found on Google). Our site is available and reachable, and the books can still be downloaded using the links in our catalogue (the green 'Download' button works), but you won't be able to go to "Internet Archive Page" in any of our publications.

Weird, eh?

Not very weird, except perhaps that our recordings are still downloadable.

It's true for China, too: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Help_for_Listeners_in_China

Another option is to use a virtual private network to pretend that your computer is located elsewhere. Hotspotshield is free, but old and will work for librivox and archive. (it's not on the wiki).

Archive has something for everyone, and some of those things are very offensive to some people. The three topics most incendiary -- sex, religion, and politics -- run the gamut of benign to obscene. Parents should be especially careful of what their kids have access to on that site.
