I know a group is doing the Boy Scout Novels, but I am interested also in the Nonfiction side of things.

Scouting for Girls:
http://www.gutenberg.org/files/28490/28490-h/28490-h.htm - the link on the Bibrec says PD in USA, but also that this 6th reprint is 1925 -- I don't know if the Girl Scouts abandoned copyright for older editions? Or if there's a scan of an earlier-to-be-safer version?

Scouting for Boys:
I couldn't see "Scouting for Boys" on Gutenberg, but it's here: http://www.thedump.scoutscan.com/s4b.html (http://www.thedump.scoutscan.com/yarns00-28.pdf for all-in-one link) - listed as 1908

Boy Scout Handbook, by the BSA - 1911
http://www.gutenberg.org/files/29558/29558-h/29558-h.htm

(Related book, for after the initial ones: How Girls Can Help Their Country, by Low & Baden-Powell! http://www.gutenberg.org/files/28983/28983-h/28983-h.htm )

I am not ready to be a BC yet, but I would love to read for any of these, as collaborative books, of others are interested!

(I'm just a brownie-scout drop-out, myself)

I've been reading through Book Suggestions, and it turns out your source for Scouting for Boys is not usable due to copyright issues. I'd like to BC the Boy Scouts Handbook, if you aren't wanting too.

P.S. - I'm also very interested in scouting, and scouting history. I am a scout myself.

Also Young Knights of the Empire by Baden-Powell would be good to do, it's about boy scouts. If you are interested in some Scouting Non-fiction, I've recorded a short essay on the relationship of Boy Scouts and Education (#6 in the Short Nonfiction Collection 37.). There's also a companion one for Girl Scouts if your interested. (it's not recorded for LV yet.)

I have started Under Boy Scout Colors by Joseph Bushnell AMES (1878 - 1928) as a solo.

I'm more interested in the NonFiction side - maybe start with Scouting for Girls? I'm not sure if the Gutenberg version is fully PD?

If Gutenberg says it's in the Public Domain, we trust them. They do extensive copyright checking before they release any books.

Excellent!

I hope someone else would be interested in BCing it -- I don't have the brainpower until the end of semester (end of May).

If no one volunteers I will BC. I would rather do the Boy Scouts Handbook for right now, being a Boy Scout myself.

Either would be great - I just don't know a definite PD source for that one. (My husband's an Eagle Scout)

Oh, and one more! Indian Scout Talks by Charles Eastman. It's basically an Native American's advice for scout.
