Podcast 140: LibriVox helps!
Hi
On one of previous occassions I said that I already had in mind a theme for the next podcast.
I would like to put together something on the beneficial role of LibriVox.
LIBRIVOX HELPS
I'll be interested in contributions about matters such as:
- LV books as help in homeschooling
- LV readings helping people with disabilities
- LV as help in school (e.g for people who don't like/don't have time to read)
And whatever else you can come up with. If LV helped you or someone you know (and you registered here) let us know about this!
I'd also be glad to enlist the help of someone who monitors the "thank the reader" responses. It'd be great to have a selection of particularly interesting messages
Also, I'd be interesting to hear how the skills you learned at LV helped you in your life. If you have learned something which turned out to be particularly useful to you- be it a soft or a hard skill- come and share your story
Please, upload you files to cori's folder
As for deadline, tet's see how much I can gather until November 9
EDIT: Deadline changed.

But of course! Folder 'cori' is at your disposal!Piotrek81 wrote:I hope an MC will be kind enough to loan me a space in their folder
There's honestly no such thing as a stupid question -- but I'm afraid I can't rule out giving a stupid answer : : To Posterity and Beyond!
I plan on contributing something as soon as I get today's test out of the way. It'll be kind of short, but hey. I'm rather surprised nobody's posted anything yet, this seems like a grand topic.

I'm not sure what to say about this, I don't have a lot of stuff LV helped me to do... except keep me busy during an otherwise 'un-busy' winter here. Maybe you could get some messages like you mentioned above and some of us could read those for you??? Just a thought, and if it is not a good one or doesn't work, please discard!I'd also be glad to enlist the help of someone who monitors the "thank the reader" responses. I'm not sure I'll even be able to help if you do come up with something like I mentioned, but I will if I can!!! I love helping with podcasts.

We sometimes get thank you messages that mention how people use our recordings/how they helped them in doing xxx. Somebody who's VERY dedicated could go through that thread and collect a few of those.
Cheers, Ava.

Dear Librivox Readers, I joined this group specifically in order to thank you. To thank you for all the hundreds of hours pleasure you gave me while I drew the illustrations for my book, 'The Unfeathered Bird'. Thanks to you, I worked 24/7 for several years and didn't succumb to bouts of housework, coffee making, or any of the other displacement activities common to artists. You achieved what no music or radio station could achieve and kept me at my desk! I'm now working on another illustrated book and listening anew. I think I've heard most of your voices by now, and feel as though I know you all in person. You all have my most sincere gratitude.
When I get a chance, I'll go for a walk through the other "Thank-you" thread and see what catches my eye.

Piotr,
Just so you know, I really, really doubt I'll be able to help with this podcast. I hope you find enough people to find read the comments Maria hunted out, it would be a pity if she went to that work for nothing! But best wishes! Looks like Ava found her very dedicated volunteer!!! Great work, Maria!

Here's a couple of good ones from the "thank-you-to-a-reader" thread --
viewtopic.php?p=1055169#p1055169 (used an LV recording in a creative project)
viewtopic.php?p=1052480#p1052480 (wonderful "I hate Kant" rant -- very funny!)
