Writer is Mrs. Archibald Little. I did a little digging and found that she had been a romance novelist when she was younger, then married Mr. Little, a Canadian businessman. Mrs. Little made a name for herself in China as a leader in the anti-footbinding movement, which she talks about in this interesting book, accented with her own photographs of local life. I believe she was a feminist and/or suffragette as well.

I'm kind of busy right now but I wouldn't mind BC'ing this down the line, unless some lady -- and I think this should be recorded by one or more women -- wants to solo on it. I have recorded one chapter already for the current non-fic collection, Life in a Chinese City.

BT - She also wrote this book - given her history and the title, I wonder if it is a romance . . .

Definitely fiction - and the beginning is very prettily written.
