The Christian's secret of a happy life by Hannah Whitall Smith (1832 - 1911) .
This Christian book is written in a easy and understandable way, where the strong biblical points are clear and and applicable. The richness of the truths explained, will make one want to listen to it over and over again. The book writes about our part and God's part in the Christian life. It also reveal many secrets to the Christian life. "Today it is your happy privilege to prove, as never before, your loyal confidence in the Lord by starting out with Him on a life and walk of faith, lived moment by moment in absolute and childlike trust in Him." quote from the book. It is a must listen to Christian classic. (Summary by peppersnoodles93)
This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/the-christians-secret-of-a-happy-life-by-hannah-whitall-smith/
  1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you'd like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
  2. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
  3. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen.
Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
  4. Where do I find the text?
Source text (please only read from this text!): http://openlibrary.org/books/OL23286637M/The_Christian's_secret_of_a_happy_life
  5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)!
If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi MaryAnn,

I would like to add the "link to text" in the MW. How do I do that.

Also, there's a poem right after the Preface and contents. http://www.archive.org/stream/christianssecret00smit#page/n17/mode/2up
Shall we skip that or include it?

Thank you

They also split the book into three parts. Do I need to include that in the chapter titles?

Pepper,
Judgement calls on all of them. The preface is short so you could ask that reader to also read the poem, or you could leave it out. Your choice (BC gets all the tough decisions, don't you know! )

Parts - :hmm: I don't have an answer. For the MW, I don't think it adds much to just put "Part x" before the chapter # and title, so I think you either leave it out of the MW (and the title tags) all together or you put the part # [part title] before every chapter # and title. Either way would be fine. The second makes for long title tags, but that's ok.

In the reading, you have the same choices. Either the reader ignores the part # and part title, or the reader is asked to read the part number and part title before every chapter.

I kinda like the later for the intros - because the part titles do tell you a bit about how she has structured the book and where you are . . . but her chapter titles are good enough that this may not be necessary.

How about that for six of one and half dozen of another?

And lest people think I never answer any question 8-) , the links in the MW follow this format (which you have already figured out):

<a href="http://www.put.link.here">text</a>

I decided to not to do parts because it seemed a little bit useless and confusing...

For the readers, I would think it would be good when they say "Part 1 chapter 1..." to say the parts cus it's part of the text.
How about that for six of one and half dozen of another?
I didn't quite understand this sentence...

Anyways, thank you much!

Sorry about that. "Six of one, half dozen of another" means . . .

Well, both sides of that phrase equal 6. So after all arguments are considered, the sides are evenly balanced and which ever side you pick is fine. I also use it when blah blah blah is just another way to say the same thing as yackity yack. We can debate whether it's blah blah blah or yackity yack, but they are really just six of one and a half dozen of the other - meaning they are all the same.

I guess I picked that up from my parents somewhere in the dark recesses of memory . . . :hmm:
