I won a barbecue at the Canadian Tire Grand Opening. I just bought and set up a lovely patio gazebo on the deck. Ontario is indeed looking lovely this spring.

I suggest a gizmo conference call at 2pm EDT, 6pm GMT, 11am PDT On Saturday May 5 in my Gizmo Chat room. I know more people have skype but here's my reasoning.

1) I already have a gizmo conference room set up, and have used it occasionally.
2) Gizmo has a built in record function. A low bit rate record function but a record function nonetheless.
3) There are gizmo clients for MAC, WIN and Linux-- (Ventrilo does not have a linux client).
4) There is a way to call the gizmo conference room from a telephone for those who do not have gizmo installed on their computers.
5) It's free.

Details are here
Here is your Gizmo Conferencing Account Information

On GIZMO, type CONFERENCE

From a regular phone, call #1-712-432-4015

Enter Conference Room Number : 5541608
Click Here to send invitations for a conference call.

Print this page for future reference.

Features Available During the Conference

*1 Play menu of features so you know what's available

*2 Mute your own line so other people can't hear you talking

*3 Unmute your line so you can contribute to the conference

*4 Hear the number of callers who are on the conference

For support go to http://support.gizmoproject.com
Please visit http://www.gizmoproject.com/conf-calling.html to get your own free permanent room number.

Thank you for using Gizmo Conferencing powered by Vapps.

Ideas-- Mass recitation of the disclaimer.
A few words from Hugh, Dan, Kara???

Mass recording of the weekly poem-- or Jabberwocky again??

Chicago Role Call: Betsie, Julian, Kristin... and any of their hapless friends and SO's that they can drag along.

Gizmo... I'm completely in agreement on the use of Gizmo... and the specified time sounds good to me (1pm CST) ... anyone have something in mind for us to record that day as a group? I'll see what I can come up with =) ... definitely the disclaimer recitation!

I'm pretty sure you mean 1pm CDT (Sorry for being fussy. I don't want anyone to miss due to time mix ups).

Gizmo works - definitely LV disclaimer, and possible (we've bandied this about before) Children's Classics in Dramatic Form book 1, and Children's Classics in Dramatic Form book 2 what do you all think?

11:00am PDT works for me, assuming disaster doesn't strike! Hopefully more details on how to access to gizmo chat room are forth coming. also do we know whose going to record the conversation? I can do it, or any one that wants to can then we compare quality afterward.

Aye, aye... I forgot about that daylight savings time thing... thanks for reminding me =)

I've also updated the wiki page with the loose schedule for the Chicago gathering... other locations are welcome to do the same =)

You don't need much more details to use the gizmo conference. From the Gizmo Window type in Conference. Then Click on the Dial Pad tab and punch in the conference room: 5541608

It might also be possible to call from a computer without installing gizmo using the free site http://gizmocall.com/
It claims to allow you to make free calls from a browser.

It would be a good idea for several people to record their gizmo calls as quality may vary from person to person so we'll have several recordings to choose from.

The Childrens Classics in Dramatic form look like an excellent choice of readings.

I couldn't be there at 11 PDT, but could be there for a while a couple of hours later.

I have no experience with gizmo/skype/whatever. If I install on my Mac, do I just plug in my microphone, run the program, and connect to (I assume that's the 'room number' you gave), and all is well?

I have gizmo though I've never used it but hopefully can figure it out. My concern is getting an internet connection. I have a built in wireless card so as long as there is a signal in the area... but if not, it could be a problem.

Hugh: If you have another event, does 2pm EDT work for you for a gizmo conference?

What? No Aussies???

I only just noticed this topic.. that'll teach me for not visiting often enough.

I'd volunteer my place for a BBQ and some readings. QLD even has a long weekend this weekend.. but looks like I'm the only one at my BBQ
