Mark your calendars!
May 4-6, 2007
A Worldwide LibriVox Gathering!

Please visit the Event Planning LVWiki to add your name to the site you will most likely attend (so that we can get an idea how many people to expect at each location.

Currently the locations and coordinators include:
  • Chicago, United States (thistlechick/Betsie)
  • London, United Kingdom (earthcalling/David)
  • Midland Ontario, Canada (ductapeguy/Sean)
  • Sydney, Australia (tis/Chris) ?
If you'd like to help organize the event in your nearby area, just speak up... there's plenty to do =)
Event Planning page on the LVWiki:
http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/OtherProjects/Gathering2007

Activity Ideas:
  • Live reading of a play with participants in each location (via skype-type call)
  • Live recording of a portion of a local TV/Radio broadcast stating date/time.
  • Record interviews with attending members (for future LV Community Podcasts)
  • Record participant's responses to a small list of pre-written questions
  • Record an entire book in a marathon recording/editing session
  • Record a series of local ambient sounds
  • "On-location" recordings (short works that fit the theme of a location)
  • Record works by authors with a connection to the location

There could be an East Coast (USA)
gathering, which I'll coordinate.

Those interested, please notify me or keep in contact.
I'm looking for a likely spot in the NYC vicinity.
It will depend on the size of the crowd. (Crowdette.)

All of these are fine by me...never been to D.C., but the rest are lovely cities.

Thanks Alan! :D

I would prefer Boston (as said in P.M. to C.M.), but can maybe get to NYC area.

May I suggest the land of cheap hotel rooms and "prime" rib for a future gathering?

Yes, a lot of things are going to depend on how many people are planning to attend at any given location. For example.... we could reserve a block of rooms at a low-end hotel and probably use their conference room as well (this is what I'm planning for Chicago)... but we kind of need to know how many people to expect.

Perhaps having people actually sign-up on the LVWiki page for which location they plan to attend, just to get an idea of how many people would work to gather a tentative count?

Betsie, yes, I think we need a monster of a sign-up table (or one for each location). Perhaps two categories for each location: one category for people who can attend this location and no other, and one for people who can attend this and other locations - they should sign up in each of the locations they can attend. Or something like that. That might give us an idea.

Also, make sure people sign in with their *forum name* - can do 'real names' later - it's really confusing otherwise between forum and wiki.

Great idea! Do we have a page to sign up in or should we just edit the page linked in the top post?

(I'll edit it to include a list for each location if you like.)

I've updated the LVWiki page for adding individual names to the list:

You'll need to sign up for an account first, then you can edit any page in the wiki.
