Section 08 is up for PL. I went ahead and re-divided the sections as per my musings above. That means that Vince has already proofed Sections 91-94 (0:15 - 17:01). These 16:46 have been cut and pasted without any alteration from Section 07. I have not yet changed Section 07 pending input from Vince. If this change is too cumbersome for you, just say so and I'll re-upload Section 08 according to the original plan.

Section 07 is re-edited and uploaded. I deleted the last four sections (91-94 -- 16:46 minutes) and edited the first 15 seconds and the last 15 seconds to reflect these changes.

So for section 8, just one small glitch at 9:31. :)

I hope I'm not causing you more work by missing something obvious, but I can't hear a glitch at 9:31...

Could it be at a different location? Or might it have been an internal processor glitch in the playback?

Vince - perhaps it would be easier to give the wording around the glitches or edits to be made, so it can be found easier? And perhaps a description of the type of glitch. Is it a repeated word, a skip in the recording? :)

Dear Tricia,

I have decided to divided Part III into three, rather than two, sections. Since I already did similarly with Part II, I will now need two more sections inserted into the magic window before I complete the project.

I just noticed how long some of your sections are. Wow.

I usually limit sections to 72 minutes to ensure they fit on an audio CD, but I think they make CDs that go 74 or maybe 80 minutes. We might get complaints, though - hard to say. I'd hate to make you rework the sections, so if you're willing to risk it, I guess I am.

Oh, and I added the two sections. :)

I would be glad to rework sections prior to cataloging. Whatever would contribute to making this a more listenable project and whatever Vince would agree to.

Months ago, I was told that the limit is 74 minutes so, that was my target. But, beginning with Section 06 I made more of a point of dividing them at clear logical breaks in Luther's argument. So, I would actually be happy to revisit sections 03-05 to better divide them.

Whatever you advise I would be happy to do.

I may be wrong. From Wikipedia:

The program area is 86.05 cm² and the length of the recordable spiral is (86.05 cm2 / 1.6 µm) = 5.38 km. With a scanning speed of 1.2 m/s, the playing time is 74 minutes, or 650 MB of data on a CD-ROM. A disc with data packed slightly more densely is tolerated by most players (though some old ones fail). Using a linear velocity of 1.2 m/s and a track pitch of 1.5 µm yields a playing time of 80 minutes, or a data capacity of 700 MB. Even higher capacities on non-standard discs (up to 99 minutes) are available at least as recordables, but generally the tighter the tracks are squeezed, the worse the compatibility.

So maybe the limit IS 74 minutes. I'll need to change the number in my head!

I burn mixes for for friends all the time and the limit is 80 minutes. 74 CD-R's are almost impossible to find nowadays.

That said I see no objections is you want to rework some sections. :)
