Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen (1828 - 1906) Translated by William Archer (1856 - 1924).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/ghosts-by-henrik-ibsen-version-2/
A Family-drama in three acts. Like many of Ibsen's better-known plays, Ghosts is a scathing commentary on 19th century morality. (Summary by Kristingj)
  1. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim (or by the target completion date, whatever is sooner). Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. The target completion date for this project is 2012-nov-01 .
  2. How to claim a part, and 'how it all works' here
To find a role to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which role you'd like to read. Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
  3. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
  4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/files/8121/8121-h/8121-h.htm
  5. Please claim roles (the numbers in the first column below)! Please note: All Librivox recordings are in the public domain. When you submit your recording, you will be placing your recording in the public domain as well.
If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

As this is a Norwegian play, there are several Norwegian names and such. Underneath you will find a list with sound files on how to pronounce these names. If you come over a name in the text that you need the pronounciation for, simply PM me, and I will add it to this list.
NB! OBS! There is a mistake in the translation, it says Regina, but it should be Regine

Could I please claim Regina.

Or if she is already taken by someone, could I be the narrator.
So little space, so much to say.

Oh, wow that was fast :P Had planned on doing Regina myself, but none of the others are taken, so the Narrator is yours :) Just have to get and MC first:P

Not to discourage you, but did you know that there's a version 1 of this in the catalog? This will be version 2.

No, I wasn't aware of that, but I still want to do it. Been wanting to for some time, and Peer Gynt is so big, and is probably gonna take a good while before I can start editing anything, so I wanted to do another, smaller dramatic play :)

No problem - I figured you'd want Regina or Mrs Alving for yourself, but I've not heard your voice enough to guess which 'age bracket' you'd fall into and I think I'm a little young for Mrs Alving.

I listened to V1 not long ago and really enjoyed it - I think we can make this version is just as good.

I've grown to really like Ibsen, through LV performances, and my university drama group performed two of his plays over the years I was a member.
So little space, so much to say.

Well, then you have something to look forward to, because I am planning an Ibsen fest!! I have the templates ready for 8 other plays:P

I was Engstrand in version 1 and would be happy to read Manders in this one.

Cheers

Could we please have a pronunciation guide, as in Peer Gynt?

Cheers

I plan on doing it the same way, I'm actually going through the text right now and recording the names and such. Will add them to the first post as soon as I am finished, and if I missed something, feel free to ask :)
