Hi David

This is an eay one. All Kevin needs to read is the following:

At the start:

Chapter 4 of Piano and Song, by Friedrich Wieck. This is a Librivox recording. All Librivox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit Librivox dot org.

A conversation with Mrs Solid, and four lessons to her daughter.

At the end:
End of Chapter 4.

Cheers

Algy

Yay, Chapter 14 is done. :D

Being still rather new at this, I have a question about my own part. It's obvious my 'Mrs. Gold' sounds audibly different than the rest. Any idea why that is? Or what can I do differently in recording to make it sound more natural? :\ Or perhaps this question belongs in a different forum?

Thanks,
Liberty

Hi Liberty

The recording quality will always vary depending on the equipment that the reader uses and the environment in which the recording is done. In fact two readers using the same equipment will produce a different quality of sound. Even in professional recording studios it is very difficult to achieve a complete homogeneity of sound - and it is proabably not desirable in any case. It is important to have variety.

As you will see, the pursuit of sonic perfection is a never ending task.

Cheers

Algy

PS. I liked your Mrs Gold - she sounded suitably affected.

Hello everyone,
The automatic notifyer seems to have gone on strike. Anyway I've checked in and haven't missed anything. I browsed the magic window just now to see where we're all at and was pleasantly surprised to find both my parts are pl okay. Great thank you! Thanks Algy for proof listening to chapter fourteen and Sally, welcome to the book, the part is yours.

All the best,
Sandra.

Sandra et al: Here is Mrs. Solid--just as happy as not to have to do so little talking and so much listening. :D Hope you find the quality OK. I experimented a little with editing but know I didn't get all the microphone sounds and background noise out.

Hello everyone,
This is amazing! I can't believe how fast this book is progressing. Thank you very much Sally and Janet for your recordings. I'll proof listen to them later on this evening.

All the best,
Sandra.

Hello again,
Sally your part is pl okay. You had just the right sort of 'I know everything' tone for her, well done!

Janet, I tried listening to your file but, for some reason, it wouldn't play to me and tried to rerout me to help. Could David O, David L or Algy proof listen to Mrs. Solid?

I found one of my own mistakes with Lizzie by accident. I'll upload the line on Wednesday and, dearest Algy, please work your magic on it and insert it for me.

All the best,
Sandra.
