I’m glad to hear that another Thornton Burgess DR is in the works! I would be glad to claim a role once the project launches.

There are lots of Burgess books that don’t appear on LibriVox at all, such as Longlegs the Heron:

It may be a while before we do a DR of that one, though, because it isn’t on Project Gutenberg yet.

Update on Little Joe Otter, I am planning on starting the project around the second week of June.
If anyone wants to have a specific part or be the narrator, parts-PL, DPL, or editor, please PM me.
Also if anyone would like to help me with the scripts they are more then welcome to! :P

And here's a gentle reminder that each DR should have both a narrator and an editor before it can properly "start". Also, someone who is willing to do parts-PL. If Little Joe Otter and Anne of Green Gables don't have those yet, you'll want to recruit volunteers for those roles first.

I am hoping someone will claim those roles soon.
I will probably do the PLing if no one else wants to.

Anne of Green Gables will hopefully be launched during the month. If anyone wants to pl, dpl, or narrate, please let me know. If you want to claim any roles, that's awesome! But Anne, Diana, and Jane have already been taken.

Thanks,

I would like to make Far Above Rubies by George MacDonald into a DR. I'm not sure where it would need to be posted - is it considered a short work?

Would anyone like to MC? I could narrate and do parts PL.

Ooh! I will have to remember this! :D I have always laughed at Mrs. Lynde, (ever since I had the misfortune of watching the BBC version :D) when you start this project, I just might snatch her up! :D

At something like 22,000 words, it is not going to fit in one section, or likely even two. Not a long novel, but too long for the DR Scene & Story Collection I'm afraid:

(And in case this was part of the question: a DR of this would be in the Dramatic Works forum somewhere, not in the Short Works forum!)

If you want to launch a full-fledged DR project, I would highly recommend starting off with a Scene & Story DR or a one-act-play first.
In fact, if there's a pivotal chapter of another George MacDonald book you'd like to do, the collection would be a good place for that! In that case as the MC for that collection, I would of course be your MC.
I believe you'll find most of the relevant instructions all in the second post of that thread. :D

Thanks so much redrun. I have been helping with another script and feel like I have the hang of at least the making the script part. Far above rubies is about 45 ish minutes. I figured 4 10-minute sections. I will think about a chapter I might like to do though, since you have stepped fwd. :D

Making a script is probably the easiest part, though errors there will show up much later. This is part of why I recommend going through the rest on a smaller project, before launching a bigger one.

Perhaps you're talking about an abridged version of Far Above Rubies? Here's the one I noticed in our catalog, with a runtime of over 2 hours:
https://librivox.org/far-above-rubies-by-george-macdonald/

If there is an abridged version that is also PD, and would fit in 45 minutes, then that would be another good pick for the DR Scene & Story Collection. :D
