Don't re upload - the name of the file can be fixed - but as a Librivox rule

No capital letters - different software responds differently to capital and non capital letters
No spaces - if you notice your link is broken in your post and can not be clicked

Bellona - the template seems to be missing the usual bit about capital letters and thes ?

I've rejiggered points 8 & 9 from the Group Template... which is what I used initially http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Project_Templates_for_BCs Something must have got lost after the MW went up.
They call me Threadkiller.

I've fixed the file name. It's now shc001_thinsantaclaus_butler_pc

There isn't a good template for collections like this. I suppose it'd be a combination of the poetry template and the book one. The book template doesn't mention to readers to not put in leading articles or all lower case file names, because the BC specifies the structure at the onset.

I'll see if the other admins think we should make a template for collections.

PL OK on 11, 12, 14.

I'm not sure what you're asking, Bill. Could you rephrase your question?

"Please select and record any short essay or other nonfiction piece in the public domain."

The introductory note says this is the group for essays and non-fiction. Is there a group that accepts humorous fiction, short stories, and the like, or is it supposed that fiction will be serious and humorous, dramatic, mystery, etc, all mixed up?

BT will need to verify this, but the 3 pieces I just listened to were fiction, I think. I know for sure the Leacock one is.

Thin Santa Claus:

Intro should be, "The Thin Santa Claus, by Ellis Parker Butler," then the Librivox intro and "recorded by..." (You can probably just cut the title/author at 0:17-0:24 and put it at the very beginning.

1:31 - a loud scratch sound

19:02-19:07 - repeat, "And the thin Santa Claus sighed..." (can cut out all of 19:02-19:07)

19:41 - repeat, "And when he... and when he had combed..."

27:13-27:17 - sound suddenly drops too low - I couldn't hear it. Need to re-record this portion

27:26, 27:32 - loud telephone in background

29:14 - Reader says, "The End" and then the entire recording repeats. (I didn't listen to the whole thing to see if it was exact.) At 58:05 is "End of The Thin Santa Claus" so you can probably cut out all of 29:14-58:05.

Well read - funny story!

Mr. Bluff Discourses Of The Country

0:27-0:41 - repeat of title and author and "read by" (don't need the title and author again, and in this set of recordings, the "read by" goes at the end only.)

6:03 - "as ____ would put it" - name here is garbled and I couldn't understand it.

Otherwise, good reading... and so true!

Ransom of Red Chief

About 12 seconds of silence at end; should only be 5. Otherwise OK, and great reading!

Laura

Recorded in Stereo; should be mono

Volume too low -

I think I hear a low frequency hum - a mains hum, I think it's called?

Intro is read as Title, by author; LV disclaimer; read by; title, by author. Per first post, need to cut out all after the LV disclaimer and put the "read by" at the end.

The Triangle

Severe DC offset. To fix, go to Effects / Normalize, uncheck the second box, and run it.

Intro - has LV disclaimer, then title by author. These should be switched around.

2:33-ish to end: needs amplification

6:09 - "that a whiskered female is a freak" - the K sound is loud and could be de-amplified or cut down in order to enable amplification of file

19:11 - another loud K sound that prevents amplification

19:25 - about 6 seconds of silence between end of story and "end of..." - should be cut down to maybe 2 or 3 seconds.

Could use noise cleaning

Interesting story.

We Didn't Do Anything Wrong

0:17-0:26 - "recorded by" and repeat of title/author that should be cut out

1:38 - a click sound in a silence that can be easily cut out

7 seconds of silence at end; should be 5.

Cute little piece! I think it's more humor than sci-fi. 8-)
