Thank you, Lucretia.
As with Pamela, if nobody comes a long to PL for us I'll have a listen by Tuesday.

Be well,
Linny

Thank you Pamela.

I guess I don't need to worry about what I'm doing on Saturday.

Very informative especially the part on baths and corsets.

As always, nicely done. One note. The intro should be the chapter number instead of the section number.

Hi Pamela,
Have you tried backing away slightly from the mic or turning down the input volume? Your file volume has not been reduced. I recommend -8.9. You have lots of clipping which can cause distortion even after reducing the volume. It's something to keep in mind for the future.

The intro should include the chapter number instead of the section number.

2 hours out of doors each day. That sounds like such a luxury. And a 2 hour nap after lunch everyday. Oh my, that would be wonderful.

Hi Pamela,
Pretty much the same notes as the last chapter. Intro should be Chapter 7 instead of section 9, please adjust volume -8.3.

I didn't realize the fetus sits to the right. Interesting.

Intro should be Chapter 8 instead of chapter 10. When you export again please correct the album title.

My how laws have changed.

-Amplify 1.2.
-Please correct the intro. It should be: "Chapter [number] of The Prospective Mother. - This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"
If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name]"
Say:
"The Prospective Mother by J. Morris Slemons. Chapter [title]."
I'm sorry, this isn't your fault. The intro on the link in the MW is set for a solo project which is what this use to be. Once it bacame a group project the link should have been removed. Again, I'm sorry.

Home deliveries and house calls. How things have changed is such a short period of time.

Hi again, Linny--

O.K.--Here is my corrected Section 12:
http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/dl/prospectivem_12_slemons.mp3
The new length is now 28:18 (due to the edited intro).

Sorry about the confusion on the intro. I also amplified the file, so hope it is all good now.

Yes, things have certainly changed. Did you notice in the last couple of sentences that it was suggested that the mother stay in the hospital until the baby was 4 weeks old (!!??!!), but in no case should she leave earlier than 2 weeks. New mothers now may get an overnight stay (or not).

I am doing a bit of final editing on Section 11. I will have to change the intro on it as well. Also realized that I had read the word "putrefaction" as "putrefication"--duh. And isn't it astonishing how much background noise one discovers when you place a microphone on the table! I guess that you just tune it all out during your daily routine. I have decided that my best bet is to record in my basement--quieter and more secluded.

Anyway, hope to have Section 11 ready this evening. Let me know if I need to make any more changes on Section 12.
Kind regards,
Lucretia

Lucretia,
Corrections for section 12 are perfect. Thank you.

Didn't I also hear something about they should go in the hospital up to 2 weeks PRIOR? WOW.

Good luck with the environment. Seems we are always looking for better setups. I've been pretty happy in a walk in closet for a long time. All the clothes really help the tone.

Here’s the corrected 7, 8, 9, 10. I’m so sorry – I now know to scrutinize both intros and outros for EACH project. I just assumed the process was the same on all of them. Shame on me!

I’ve also figured out I that when my head gets sore with my newer mic/earphones and I readjust it to a slightly different position, it obviously makes a major change in my voice! Although when I apply a gain (in MP3Gain), I do get it back down to the 89-90 db, so it always sounds perfectly fine to me when I check it in Winamp. So, I’m assuming when a PL listens to it, it gets re-opened in Audacity(?) which changes it back from the mp3 type and, therefore, see any and all clipping, etc. I’ve kept the mic as far away from my mouth as possible until I now just realized I can actually bend the mic further out from my chin (duh!), which I will now do. I was always worried I’d break something if I did that. Oh well, live and learn…

And…, 2-hour nap after lunch? Wish they would have told me that way back then. I had both my sons so long ago that most of what I read actually did apply then, but I didn’t know about the baby-to-the-right thing either. This was really quite an interesting read, but I’m sure things are so much more advanced these days.

Hope these are all good now. And, I hope you get more of this medically stuff soon so I can read them!

Pamela,
MP3Gain is a great tool to determine what adjustment needs to be made but don't do the adjustment there. It doesn't seem to ever stick when you do it that way. Determine what you need to do, then make the adjustment in Audacity before you export. That will keep it from reverting back.

All corrections are verified and you are PL ok.

I'm looking forward to your last chapter. It should be interesting to find out what time you should have gotten for the laying in period. :D
