IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project will be opened up to a group project as soon as a Book Coordinator can be found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to have it re-instated).
The reader will record the following at the beginning and end of each file:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
Start of recording (Intro)
"Chapter [number] of Two Thousand Miles Below. - This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name]"
Say: "Two Thousand Miles Below, by Charles Willard Diffin. [Chapter]"
For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
"Chapter [number] of Two Thousand Miles Below by Charles Willard Diffin. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain.
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name]"
Only if applicable, say: "[Chapter title]"
End of recording
At the end of the section, say:
“End of [Chapter]"
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
At the end of the book, say (in addition): "End of Two Thousand Miles Below, by Charles Willard Diffin."
There should be 5 seconds silence at the end of the recording, or 10 seconds for files longer than 30 minutes.

OK
Magic Window is up. I'll send you a PM with the details on how you can use it.
Is the target date correct? 2.5 years for this book, that is very slow reading!
Everything else is fine.
Let's wait for a DPL to come forward.

Yes, that is indeed a long completion date. I will most likely finish long before then.
However I figured in approximately a month (give or take) for each section, since I also run a bookstore and corral four unruly children as my main livelihood. ~grins~
Something else:
I advise you to wait for the Proof Listening of the section you already recorded, before starting this project. If there are issues, you can take them into account when you start here.
I had planned on waiting for the results of the other work, as I will be busy printing out the reading material, pronunciation hints for use in recording, etc. for this project in the meantime. Plus, that gives time for a DPL to pick it up.
We can move now, but we could also wait a few days. Maybe a DPL will look into the Launch Pad and see us.
If we have to advertise for s DPL, do you want to make the post yourself, or shall I do it?
