This weekly poem is now complete. If you still wish to record this poem, please submit it to the current Short Poetry Collection. Thanks to everyone who participated!
Each week a poem is chosen to be recorded by as many Librivox volunteers as possible!
This week we celebrate May Day with Sara Teasdale's poem of the same name. Thanks to Annie for suggesting it!
Here is the poem at Poet's Corner: http://www.theotherpages.org/poems/teasd02.html#139

Because we use the abbreviated "librivox disclaimer" for weekly poetry, start by saying the title and author/source. This week, that's:
Then, say the abbreviated disclaimer (with special occasion additions):May Day,
by Sara Teasdale.
Now read the body of the poem:read for Librivox.org
for May Day 2006,
by [Your Name]
(If desired, add your location, your personal URL, etc.)
At the end, say:A delicate fabric of bird song
Floats in the air,
The smell of wet wild earth
Is everywhere.
Red small leaves of the maple
Are clenched like a hand,
Like girls at their first communion
The pear trees stand.
Oh I must pass nothing by
Without loving it much,
The raindrop try with my lips,
The grass with my touch;
For how can I be sure
I shall see again
The world on the first of May
Shining after the rain?
Leave maybe 3-5 seconds silent, then stop recording.End of Poem.
(I personally like to add "This recording is in the public domain.")
