Robert - A quick note to make things a bit easier for you: most of these readers are already in the wiki here http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/ListOfReadersCatalogNames#preview so you can just look up their info there. What I have been doing is if I come across someone who is not in the wiki yet, I get their info and then add it to the wiki.

Thanks for the heads up, Annie. I had run across this page before and then promptly forgot about it! Image

I'll double-check against the Wiki and update if necessary as submissions come in.

Thanks, Paul! Your reading came through fine! It's grand to listen to all the different interpretations so far! It could become a real habit hosting this little corner of LibriVox but I expect I would have to arm wrestle Fox in the Stars for that privilege... and likely lose! Image

Oh, I haven't actually run a weekly poem yet; it was mainly coincidence that I signed up to do it twice coming up. So I'll have to see how those go before I know whether to arm-wrestle you or not! ^_~

Oh don't worry now... I was only teasing! I'm not going to move in on your action here!! Heck between work and the climbing program starting to heat up and prime climbing season just around the corner and all the things that I want to read and... and... and...

I ain't got no time left to manage! Image

Besides, I like Fox in the Stars' ideas that she's got brewing over in the Planning thread. This is great fun but I don't mind going back and taking the easier road of simply contributing!

Thinking is not my strong point! Image

Hi, just submitted my first librivox recording via yousendit... this is the link:

http://s38.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0B6X8HXN5IWX206PTR3SC5OAQL

Hope it's decent... There's some noise in the file, but I wasn't able to use Audacity on my mac to clean it up... I should look into that.

Mother Night by James Weldon Johnson - Thet feller sure was a good writer.

Readin' time was 1 minute and 19 seconds. Sorry it took so long.

I'm purty shure it meets all the other requirements a them LibriVox folks.

Thank you kindly.

Welcome, Constantinos! You have a wonderful voice and I enjoyed your reading of the poem. I hope we can figure out what's causing the sound problems because your voice deserves to be heard without that distraction!

What type of mic are you using?

Thanks for joining in with us here!

Oh! Would you like your web site url included on the catalog page?

Welcome back, Eugene-- long time, no hear! Yes, I'm having some fun with myself and others... but that's what this should be about, eh? Having some fun, telling some stories, enjoying each others company!

We could do much worse in life!

Thanks for the poem!

OK, for the first time in over a month, I think I'm submitting to weekly poetry :) I think this is perhaps in response to hearing a poet on NHPR read her poetry. She was terribly awful at it! One would think that a poet would read their poems well, but ahh well. Here it is..

Thanks, Kri! A nice rendering, too! I'm glad you came back to this little corner for another reading.

You know, this is the first time I've actually listened to every poem submitted to the weekly gig. I always meant to but I just got too busy... Image

As I was listening to your reading this evening-- out here in a cool northwestern US evening-- I have to admit that I got a bit choked up. No, no... it had nothing specific to do with your reading, Kri-- that was very nice.

It's just that I suddenly had this scene in my head of all these people from all over the world and from so many different backgrounds, with this one thing in common-- here they were, sitting in their homes, all reading the same poem written by a black writer who lived his life strongly despite the social odds against him.

All of those varied and wonderful voices, unpretentious and unstaged, lifting his words into the heavens. It was a quite wonderful mental picture. My shoddy words now don't do it justice.

:::big sigh:::

Robert

Woohoo! That makes me feel great Robert. Although, I imagine the heavy metal in my ears helps...

I really have fallen in love with this project.
