COMPLETE: Amendments to the Constitution - NF/ll
All recordings can be found on the catalog page: http://librivox.org/amendments-to-the-united-states-constitution-version-2/
I was a little disappointed when I saw that someone had already done the Constitution, but I did get to do the Declaration of Independence, and I guess the work on the Constitution is not done, because the Amendments are not done, but fear not, for I shall do them. It might take a while, what with my Oliver Twist chapters also, but I will have the Bill of Rights for you tonight.

I'm glad you're doing this Jim! I believe this is the Gutenberg e-text for the Bill of Rights: http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/2
What source are you using for the rest of the amendments? Do you plan to do it as one audio file or will the Bill of Rights be a stand alone recording?
This will be a great addition to the catalog!

The source I used is http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/constitution.overview.html which is what I have long looked to when I was online and needed to look at the Constitution, which is more often than you might think. I also have a little booklet version that I keep handy and refer to when I hear someone make reference to the "Full Faith and Credit" clause (Article IV, section 1) or the Commerce clause (Article I, section 8, clause 3). I also frequently impress/annoy/worry/creep out people by quoting the Constitution like a character on the West Wing. I know I'm a geek.
But the recording is here: http://jimcadwell.com/bill_of_rights.mp3
I will do the rest of the amendments in groups determined by length, which seems to me the most practical way to keep the individual recordings relatively short, but not too short.

Okay, sounds good Jim! I think this thread is probably better placed in "going solo" since it will be a series of recordings so I will move it there. I'll also add this to the "to come" section of the catalog page.

And now, the Second Installment. This one is similar in length to the Bill of Rights, coming in at just over 4:09, and consists of Amendments 11-13

More next weekend, I hope.

Even if Jim is still planning to complete this project, there is no reason you cannot create another version of the amendments. Duplicate recordings are a good thing, they add variety to LibriVoxShurtagal wrote:hey jim
are u still doing the amendments?
if not plz post and i can take over

Yes, that's true, just go ahead and start your own going solo thread for it and a meta-coordinator should be along shortly to snap it up!

I am still planning to finish the amendments. I've just been a bit busy, and I need to get a new microphone. But rest assured, they will be done. Sometime. I will officially set a goal date to finish, which will help me, and that date will be the Ides of May.
It is fortunate that I am not like Douglas Adams, who said, "I love deadlines. I love the whooshing sound they make as they fly by."

Ok, I got them done ahead of shcedule. I guess having a laptop to take on the road with me and a decent microphone are helpful things.
I re-did the Bill of Rights and Amendments 11-13, so as they should all sound the same. The files are here

Or at least they will be shortly; they're uploading slow and steady.

Jim, Do you want to write up a short summary for this or shall I grab something from wikipedia?
