Hello Readers, my name is Daniel, and I am an Audio engineer with forty years of experience. I have just joined the forum in order to help those who need professional editing and mastering of their projects. As you might expect, I have the latest production equipment, computers and editing software that the average narrator would not have. I have worked with the BBC, Fox, and a host of other studios and performers in my life. I come from a long line of stage craft engineers and production specialist. I currently work with commercial production of my choosing for Audio Book and the ACX exchange. Currently, I am engaged with a commercial production of a new book that is being distributed worldwide.
My interest in Audio book production has come in part with my retirement from the business. With retirement comes a lot of idol time with a
lifetime of skills sitting on a shelf. If you have an audio production, Drama or Book that needs a little help to reach completion and put into the catalog for public consumption I may be able to help in that venture. Many decades ago, I was involved with the Radio Workshop Theater for the Blind in Seattle. I enjoyed the format then and now. I have and extensive foley library (sound effects), music and a host of artist that may be willing to contribute to a project. The objective is to create the best production value for the form as physically possible. For those who need technical assistance in the recording process and do not want to spend hours of time looking through videos on You Tube that are not generally created for narrators of a non-commercial nature, I may be able to answer your question and put you on the right path. As most of the forum participants are volunteers one cannot be expected to build a booth and invest in a $5,000. Rode microphone. There are many ways to create a great sounding production for little or no cost. If you would like my help, I can be found under the username: MixMediaStudio.
Thanks, Daniel Mix-Mix Media Studio's.

Hello Daniel, and welcome to LibriVox! Thank you for joining, and thank you for sharing your talent and experience with us.

I have to tell you, I listened to a lot of radio theater as a kid, and that format certainly stuck with me too. That's why you'll find me quite often over in the Dramatic Works forum...

I should mention our policy on sound-effects and music:
  • We don't add background music or incidental effects, but we can use music and foley sounds where called for in the script!
  • Since all of our recordings are published in the Public Domain, with absolutely no restrictions on their use, we do need to make sure any sounds we use are available on those terms. Unfortunately, most sources (even Creative Commons) still come with some kind of license. Volunteers either record things themselves, or find a source that we can reasonably prove is in the Public Domain.
But with that said, I'm sure we can put you to work, if you're willing! I see you found one of our "rescue" projects, where the previous volunteer to edit has disappeared. We seem to always have one or more of those, and we also have plenty of volunteers who might like to hear more about improving their recording setup and their editing on a budget! I know we have a few Q&A topics in the Discussion forum, and "how do you do it?" is something a lot of folks are interested in. :D

Thank you for your time, and I hope to see you around on LibriVox!
