We can move over to Readers Found now. I think this is my most quickly filled project ever.
Thanks,
Here is the edited file for Chapter 6Winnifred wrote: ↑May 1st, 2024, 4:52 pmIt is fun, isn't it?JamminJazz wrote: ↑May 1st, 2024, 6:31 am

Here is the edited Chapter 5 at 11:43

And here is Chapter 6 at 15:28
https://librivox.org/uploads/kilteddragon/wherebluebegins_06_morley_128kb.mp3
Chapter 5 is now PL OK.
Two small changes for Chapter 6:
- At 6:15, I hear “An extremely beautiful sales-damsel, charmingly clad in black crepe de chyne, was supporting …” But the text reads “An extremely beautiful sales-damsel, charmingly clad in black crepe de chien, was supporting …” I wouldn’t normally comment on pronunciation, but part of the joke here is lost if this bold-faced word isn’t pronounced correctly. The fabric is “crepe de chine,” which would normally be pronounced “crayp de sheen” but in this case it’s spelled “crepe de chien” (chien is French for dog) and would be pronounced “crayp de shee-en.” Could you please correct that?
Let me know if you have any questions about how to edit.
- At 10:58, I hear “To his surprise he was ushered by the secretary into a charming Louis the XIV (14th) salon…” But the text reads “To his surprise he was ushered by the secretary into a charming Louis the XVI (16th) salon…” Now, I probably wouldn’t even have known the difference, but there may be listeners who do, so it's probably a good idea to fix this.
Thanks,
Really good content, great readers and admins... I think its a law of the universe that the best stuff falls into place the quickest . It was the prep time that took 90 years
Funny how it makes so much more sense with the correct wording I will work on thisWinnifred wrote: ↑April 30th, 2024, 3:58 pmMorley is really good at funny, sad and profound all at once, isn't he?ShellyW wrote: ↑April 30th, 2024, 9:45 am https://librivox.org/uploads/kilteddragon/wherebluebegins_09_morley_128kb.mp3 (24:40)
Oh my goodness chapter 9 is amazing. SO funny and sad and profound
A few changes for you:
- At about 1:14, there’s a bit of a noise in the background. It’s not super-loud, but it’s a bit distracting.
- At 6:26, I hear “she told Gissing, rather pathetically, that she intended to have the whole house repaired in the fall.” But the text reads “she told Gissing, rather pathetically, that she intended to have the whole house repapered in the fall.” It’s not a huge difference, but I think it would read better with “repapered.”
- At 8:46, I hear “She quivered eagerly over her merchandise, her small paws flying.” But the text reads “She quivered eagerly over her machine, her small paws flying.”
- At 12:20, I hear “It did strike him as odd, perhaps, that merchants did not dare to go in on a junket or plane or congenial dinner…” But the text reads “It did strike him as odd, perhaps, that merchants did not dare to go on a junket or plan a congenial dinner…”
- At 14:31, I hear “These sagacious, humorous fellows who were amusing themselves with twaddling trade apothegms and ridiculous anodyne and ridiculous banqueteering solemnities, surely they were aware that this had no bearing upon their own jobs?” But the text reads “These sagacious, humorous fellows who were amusing themselves with twaddling trade apothegms and ridiculous banqueteering solemnities, surely they were aware that this had no bearing upon their own jobs?” Please snip out those extra words.
Thanks,
- There’s an odd noise at 23:52.
Chapter 6 is now spot PL OK, and Chapter 7 is PL OK!JamminJazz wrote: ↑May 2nd, 2024, 8:26 am Here is Chapter 7 at 16:23

Thanks, Shelly. Spot PL OK. Husbands do tend to sneeze at inconvenient times, don't they?ShellyW wrote: ↑May 2nd, 2024, 11:22 am https://librivox.org/uploads/kilteddragon/wherebluebegins_09_morley_128kb.mp3 (24:37)
In case you were curious, the first weird sound was my husband sneezing. I was hoping it would sound like a fierce beagle The 2nd weird sound was my phone buzzing. I was able to cut out most of it the first time but I guess that little beginning buzz was still there.
Very kind of you, thanks.ShellyW wrote: ↑May 2nd, 2024, 10:02 amReally good content, great readers and admins... I think its a law of the universe that the best stuff falls into place the quickest . It was the prep time that took 90 years
I coordinated version 2 of Plum Pudding, and there are a number of his books already on Librivox, but there are still a few untouched. I might consider setting up Thunder on the Left next.ShellyW wrote: ↑May 3rd, 2024, 8:26 am https://librivox.org/uploads/kilteddragon/wherebluebegins_10_morley_128kb.mp3 (18:46)
Another very funny chapter by Morley. I will be looking up to see what else he has done.
Thanks, Michelle. Ready for PL.JamminJazz wrote: ↑May 3rd, 2024, 11:14 am Here is Chapter 8 at 20:40

Just one tiny note: at 2:53-4, I hear a ding, as of a phone alert of some kind. You might want to edit that out.JamminJazz wrote: ↑May 3rd, 2024, 11:14 am Here is Chapter 8 at 20:40
