Did they know about ovulation in those days? The rhythm method? Contraception? Alas, it gets worse!

Probably not. Probably still believed the gender of the child was determined by the left or right of the man's . . . . Old medical texts are a riot to read. Anyway, PL OK!

Hidden treasure!
I usually forget where I hide things, so I don't.

Oh, I need to change my sig.

Wonderful time in Oregon with my brother, but sad saying good-bye to the family home and to the places I love. He will be moving to Kansas in July to be near sons there.

We're just waiting for the mortgage company to send the "closing package" to the escrow company so we can sign the final papers. Anxious to get the keys and start the transition. :D

Which reminds me, we haven't yet changed the locks on our new house. Still using the old keys, trusting the sellers not to break in. Well, they actually did, for about a week after the sale, we went over and found a folder of all the owner's manuals pertaining to kitchen appliances, HVAC, etc., sitting on the kitchen counter! Apparently they did not have our phone numbers or email addresses -- an oversight I have since corrected.

I am fascinated by the topic of "imprints", which is what makes us love our childhood (and adult) homes, so filled with memories, and our countries filled with customs. This is reminiscent of new hatchling ducks, who follow whomever they first see, like it was their mamma. Or dogs who give their undivided attention and loyalty to one master. Those bonds are hard to break. And yet . . . . how often it seems we must.

Lots of suckling going on here, or not as the case may be.

Wired our down payment today, finally coming in at the lower figure we had anticipated, made out like bandits at an estate sale that our real estate agent put us onto, and picked up a few things at a thrift store.

Now, just waiting for the mortgage company to do their final audit and release the funds.
Keys should be in our hands early next week!
