New to Librivox
I have listened to Librivox recordings on my daily walks for several years. I have particularly enjoyed Nicholas Clifford's recordings of Henry James works. I have read out loud to my wife every night for years. She tells me frequently that I should volunteer on Libravox because I enjoy it so much, so I will give it a try.

Proof listening for Nicholas introduced me to authors I had not read and still brings a smile to my face. If you enjoy reading aloud this is a great place to be.
The welcome email you have is the tried and tested way to get started and LV people are willing to give the help you need to get going.
And I find it nice to have a hobby that I don't need to find somewhere to put the product of my labours
