Also just wanted to repeat that: the track duration of my previous submission (section 5 Classified Object) should be 40:38.

Thanks! This is queued for PL!

Btw, I don't know if you were aware but this was actually written by Harlan Ellison under the Lee Archer pseudonym. Neat!

Before I start recording, Can you check that my selection fits the public domain criteria?

The story is called, "The Fifth Dimension," by Clare Winger Harris. It's from Amazing Stories, December 1928.

Thanks!

Well, unfortunately it appears that you are from Canada and Clare Winger Harris died in 1968. So her works won't be available for you for another 14 years (death + 70 years). The easiest way to check, assuming you've found a story here: viewtopic.php?t=98183 , is to take the author and look up their death date on https://www.isfdb.org/. If it's before 1954, you should be good to go!

Just as a random example, Edgar Wallace died in 1932, so his story "The Black Grippe" would be allowable. Ellis Parker Butler, who died in 1937, would be another example of someone OK for Canadians to record.

I had a look at the Canadian Copyright Term and Public Domain Flowchart, which I have copied below

https://www.ualberta.ca/faculty-and-staff/copyright/intro-to-copyright-law/licensed-royalty-free-content/pd-flowchart---lit.html

If the author died before 1971, the old system (death + 50 years) still applies. If Clare Winger Harris died in 1968, I believe I can record this.

Oh that's right. Canada had that weird "frozen" copyright rule. You should be good to go then.

Love science fiction! I recorded “By Earthlight” by Bryce Walton. I don’t think I need to do anything other than link the upload here:
