I think it is possible - just collect the images while I think it out. I know a pdf will work but IA now does a heap of extra processing so that PDFs are fully searchable and I wouldn't like to slow everything up too much.

Thanks, Anne; There are only fourteen images. I've extracted them, but I need to label them to fit the chapters that they should go with.

Some notes for chapter 3:

The intro is the long one without mention of the author if you want to shorten it to match chapter 2.

There's a repeat ~4:05 'One of them depicts the interior of the old bar,'

A repeat ~13:16 'on this more than'

There's an odd popping noise throughout the paragraph beginning, "Issuing from this room, which embalms the memory of “William,” (~10:48)
It's only in that paragraph that I notice it. I don't think it's too much of a distraction, but thought I would mention it since I've never heard it in your recordings before.

Thanks, Laura; I can't hear the popping, though I've corrected what may be the same thing elsewhere in my recording (I think a USB port is playing up, so I'm going to shift to another). An oddity of the pops that I did spot was that they don't seem to show up on the Audacity sonogram. I kept a copy of a couple of the sounds that I did catch; is this what you heard? .... https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/clicks_py.mp3

Could you tell me where the end of the block of pops is, please, so I can re-record?

{Note for me: changed correction locations: 3.59 - One of them depicts; 13.07 - on this more than}

Yes, that's exactly the sound I'm hearing.

It just the one paragraph that I notice it:
Beginning ~10:48 "Issuing from this room, which embalms the memory of “William,”
and ending ~13:29 with "Each intelligent visitor, as he reverently contemplates it, will pursue his own line of reflection."

I've edited and re-uploaded. I hope this sounds okay.

Intro - from 0.04
"One of them" repeat removed - 3.59

Replaced paragraph - 10.41-13.22 (includes the second repeat that you found). Beginning "Issuing from this room, which embalms the memory of “William,”
and ending with "Each intelligent visitor, as he reverently contemplates it, will pursue his own line of reflection."

Repeat gone and the section that was re-recorded sounds wonderful. No popping sounds heard at all.

The intro just needs the author's name added then chapter 3 will be PL OK.

Thanks, Laura; I've uploaded chapter four. There's an interesting little essay from a middle/upper class lady being exposed to The Cheese.
I've corrected a typo at 12.05: "hard cushionless sets" I've recorded as 'seats'.

I found Lady Colin Campbell's perspective quite interesting.

Both of these notes are near the pg 30 marker in the read online version.

~7:04 'and many other worthies' is missing from 'It is certain that Dickens, Forster, Tom Hood, Wilkie Collins, and many other worthies did frequent it, while Sala periodically puffs it, and a host of other lights have written about it.' (located in the paragraph right before the pg 30 marker)

~7:50 text is 'or on Saturdays a gigantic pudding'--Saturdays was read Sundays and I wasn't sure it would have been open on Sundays back then (located right at the pg 30 marker)

Thanks, Laura; I've edited chapter four and re-uploaded.

I think you're right about Sundays ... remember in Wonderful London, there was a chapter about the rag-fairs in Shoreditch, with diamond selling in a couple of pubs, which the author mentioned must have been illegal but ignored by the authorities.

I knew something was trying to get through the cobwebs in my mind. I remember that passage from Wonderful London now that you mention it.

Chapter 4 is good to go.

Now, I'm looking forward to the next chapter on the puddings...

Laura; I've uploaded chapter five. The pudding's contents are uncomfortable these days. I had sort of assumed that it would be steak and kidney.
