Well, if anyone's in the mood to record a difficult, deliriously long (900+ pages!!) modernist novel, boy, do I have a recommendation for you: Gertrude Stein's The Making of Americans.

From the summary: In The Making of Americans, Gertrude Stein sets out to tell "a history of a family's progress," radically reworking the traditional family saga novel to encompass her vision of personality and psychological relationships. As the history progresses over three generations, Stein also meditates on her own writing, on the making of The Making of Americans, and on America.
This would probably make for a better group project than a solo, honestly... that is, if you've got a lot of time on your hands.
