The 1927 English version of the book Metropolis by Thea von Harbou, originally published in German in 1925, and the silent film adaptation, have both been public domain in the US as of January 1st, 2023. PG-AU has the entire English translated book here due to it being public domain in Australia, too. I’m surprised the book hasn’t been uploaded to either the Internet Archive or PG-USA yet. Anyone willing to read this one?

This one has been brought up before on this thread:

There's some contention with the mods over whether that PG Aus link is valid to use or not, so I've reached out to our resident Project Gutenberg Greg to see if he can help getting an edition of it cleared at PG.

Anything to do with the introduction or Forrest J. Ackerman has been removed from the PGDP project per the clearance with Project Gutenberg.

Hmm... well, I guess until a complete scan of a 1927 English first edition is uploaded to PG-US or the Internet Archive, this seems unlikely for now.

That pgdp project will post to PG-US in a bit. A month or two is likely.OjoTheLucky wrote: ↑March 19th, 2024, 7:37 am Hmm... well, I guess until a complete scan of a 1927 English first edition is uploaded to PG-US or the Internet Archive, this seems unlikely for now.
