From flavo5000:
First, in this collection:
https://librivox.org/short-science-fiction-collection-087-by-various/
The Plotters is attributed to Edmond Hamilton (the reader reads the story as written by Alexander Blade, a pseudonym so no need to change that) but it's actually written by Richard S. Shaver. Can this be updated?

Also speaking of Shaver, I've noticed quite a few authors on Librivox don't have listed as pseudonyms what they are most well known for. Can you add these?
Librivox Name:Pseudonym to be added
Abraham Merritt: A. Merritt
Richard Sharpe Shaver: Richard S. Shaver
Bruce Wallis: B. Wallis
Alpheus Hyatt Verrill: A. Hyatt Verrill

I'm sure I've come across more than these but these are ones I know off the top of my head. Thanks!

Hi Jo, I was able to download the recording but it was flename ending 64kb. I imported it to Audacity and changed the metadata to have Richard S. Shaver as the author. I exported it at 128 kb and renamed the file. Can I just replace the file in archive and have it rederive or should I have exported at 64 kb and kept the filename?

Download the 128kb file, since we'd like to keep the quality. You can find it either on Archive or on our catalog page as the link of the title of the section. Then you can change the metadata via the file properties rather than re-exporting through Audacity. (In Windows, right-click on the file name and go to Properties, then the Details tab.)
Librivox Name:Pseudonym to be added
Abraham Merritt: A. Merritt
Richard Sharpe Shaver: Richard S. Shaver
Bruce Wallis: B. Wallis
Alpheus Hyatt Verrill: A. Hyatt Verrill
These will all return the author if searched for. We don't need to add a "pseudonym" that is simply a shortened version of the author's name.

I downloaded from the Librivox site but the link was 64kb.
Edit:
Can you tell me how to get it off of Archive? I couldn't figure it out.

If you download by right clicking on the play arrow in the sections column, you will get the 64kb file. If instead you download by right clicking on the title of the section in the chapter column, you will get the 128kb file.

To download from the archive page, click show all, then find the one you want in the list and download it.

Okay, I fixed the metadata and only changed the contributing author section. However, after I uploaded it it is only showing the Section Title and not the author. What did I do wrong?

It looks all right to me. Try a hard refresh (Ctrl-F5).

I guess it goes through several displays before the deriving is finished. Thanks!

re-deriving is low on IA's to-do list always. Anne

I was mistaken on A. Merritt. It looks like it does have A. Merritt as a pseudonym. As far as the others go though, if you search for "Richard S. Shaver", "B. Wallis" or "A. Haytt Verrill", it will return no results. Searching just "Richard Shaver" will return it.

Ah. Looks like the period is the culprit.
Okay, I'll add them as pseudonyms, so if someone searches for the initial with a period, it'll work. I'll do it in about 1.5 hours - it's lunch break time. 8-)

It's nothing new - many searches depend on exact matches in punctuation and capitalisation - if we add every version to our database it will eventually slow all the searches.
It's mainly writers who wrote for different magazines and the magazines used different versions of their names
