Thanks.

Chapter 7: https://librivox.org/uploads/brownrottger/sowingseedsindanny_07_mcclung_128kb.mp3 (12:06)
Chapter 8: https://librivox.org/uploads/brownrottger/sowingseedsindanny_08_mcclung_128kb.mp3 (6:59)

The next chapter is longer, so I probably won't get around to it until Tuesday. My wife, Celia, has multiple volunteer activities on Tuesdays, which leaves me free to record. The joys of retirement :)

I got more done today than I expected, as we're still buried under snow (melting though, as spring is here early!).

Chapter 9: https://librivox.org/uploads/brownrottger/sowingseedsindanny_09_mcclung_128kb.mp3 (29:19)
Chapter 10: https://librivox.org/uploads/brownrottger/sowingseedsindanny_10_mcclung_128kb.mp3 (5:16)

Living in Manitoba, I am enjoying these intimate portraits of rural characters, though I can't say they have changed much in 120 years :)

Chapters 9 and 10 are PL ok. I do believe that all thoughts are recycled and humans always act on their thoughts mostly without questioning them. Snow's all gone here. We only had one snowfall... concerning. Thanks for your great narration as always!

Thanks, Christine: Yes, we don't evolve in our attitudes as quickly as we hope or believe.

We had a very odd winter, warm with little snow. The ice rink along the Red River, a long-standing tradition, didn't manage to open, and the polar bears on Hudson's Bay are facing longer food- and ice-free summers. It is worrisome.

Chapters 11-13 are PL ok. I love the little chuckles I get out of your reading of McClung's writing. Thank you.

Thanks, Christine: I am really enjoying her intimate portraits, too. Though I've had to re-record several sections because I was laughing :). But I should warn you, Chapter 16 is a tear jerker.

Chapter 14: https://librivox.org/uploads/brownrottger/sowingseedsindanny_14_mcclung_128kb.mp3 (17:20)
Chapter 15: https://librivox.org/uploads/brownrottger/sowingseedsindanny_15_mcclung_128kb.mp3 (8:40)
Chapter 16: https://librivox.org/uploads/brownrottger/sowingseedsindanny_16_mcclung_128kb.mp3 (6:07)

Thanks, too, for the encouragement. I'm relatively new at this, and it's nice to feel like I'm not recording into a vacuum.

We've passed the half-way point!

This book is already on the list for my 3 -25 and 27 year old daughters to listen when done! :D
Chapters 14 - 16 are PL ok.
Thank you for sending these three all in a bunch! So sweet, I was literally tearing up at it!

Thanks, Christine: I confess that I was teary, too :). I grew up in Nova Scotia, where Lucie Maude Montgomery is taught to school children for the way she captured village life in nearby Prince Edward Island. Her "Anne of Green Gables" was also published in 1908, and I see the two authors as very similar in their aims and methods (though perhaps I'm just sappy!). Despite the title of the book, it's Pearl and not Danny who is the real hero of the story.

I like this book as much, if not more, than the Anne of Green Gables ones or others by Montgomery. Section 17 is PL ok.

I agree, I prefer McClung to Montgomery. There is more nuance and more shades of grey in the lives she portrays.

Sorry for the delay, but here are the next chapters:

Chapter 18: https://librivox.org/uploads/brownrottger/sowingseedsindanny_18_mcclung_128kb.mp3 (28:19)
Chapter 19: https://librivox.org/uploads/brownrottger/sowingseedsindanny_19_mcclung_128kb.mp3 (5:36)

Sadly, there is more to Polly's tale in the last chapter, which is emotional.

Hi, Christine:

Because I found Polly's story in Chapter 21 to be a bit painful, I though I should mention that McClung wraps up the other subplots with happy endings, very much like Jane Austen :)

With temperatures plummeting to -15C for the next few days, I'm hoping to finish up soon.

Thanks
